We are back in Napa!  Staying the whole week.  They are experiencing a heat wave, current temp is 111.  Yikes.  The rest of the week looks better.  We rented a house in St. Helena, my cousin and her husband will join us for a few weeks.

call me crazy but I had to bring the essentials.  A chefs knife purchased in thrift shop for 25 cents.  I am afraid to check my good knives while flying.  This knife is not bad, I made it razor sharp.  The logo says "Westminster" and made in Japan.  A paring knife, also a thrift store find.  Lodge cast iron skillet.  Spatula, lime press, microplane, thermometer, peeler, measuring cup.

Yes, a lime press is essential for any vacation.  Cocktail time!!!

Breakfast at Lucy in Yountville.  It is open at 7 AM which is great for this early rising  couple from east coast.

Duck confit hash for me, chilaquiles for DH.  Egg yolk on duck confit looks ready to ooze eggy goodness...

Welp, that seals it.  I can no longer ever leave my house.  I wouldn't know how to work the toilet.

I mean, rinse cycle???  How long does one sit on the toilet to wait for all of that to happen?  o.O

Is there toilet paper available for those of us that are toilet technology challenged?

I love those toilets! We had one in our hotel in Saigon last year... I joked that I never wanted to leave the bathroom!

I keep thinking there should be a slot to drop your money in.  Maybe like a car wash has?  And I suppose they could offer a finishing wax like the car wash does!  Pass thanks.  "Come for the food, stay for the toilet"  Some catchy motto huh?

Due to expressed interest, I will continue to take pictures in restaurant bathrooms encountered on this trip.  Tastefully of course.

Lunch at Charter Oak, chef Kostow casual restaurant.  They only haveIMG_0079.thumb.JPG.bb5f38bce8f673e36b3f99bbc4dc32d8.JPG

IMG_0080.thumb.JPG.cb7b682873a29193f3c04df3087004c4.JPG brunch menu on Sunday.  I hate it when it is not clearly mentioned on restaurant's website.  I had plans to order from the lunch menu.  But food was tasty despite my apprehension.

We had cheeseburger and posole.

Chef was there and very involved.  The place has an impressive hearth and tables have drawers that hold silverware.  Looks like they spared no expense.

The bathroom was not very interesting but the art in front of it was not rated G.

Interesting find in Whole Foods.  Imperfect potatoes two lbs for 99 cents.  They look just find to me.

This is very strange to me.  First of all, they look normal...and second of all does produce really get thrown out by farmers if it isn't perfect?  If so, that is ridiculous.
