FaustianBargain, thanks for reviving this thread. Fun game, isn't it?

Hmmmm, a tiny hint or clue perhaps?

That looks like okra pakoras to me. Am I right? If not, am I close?

Looks like moss-covered plant roots of some kind lying atop a cross-section of a tree.

i would guess if not okra, then mirchi (hot pepper) pakoras, or

maybe some kind of baingan (eggplant) pakoras?

This may be politically incorrect but here goes:

1. Spaghettti: if that is really you in the picture, you're truly gorgeous.

2. When I think of brains, I think of three things:

a. Einstein

b. Return of the Living Dead

c. All the people in the UK that got Mad Cow Disease because they ate beef brains.

Looks like some sort of chili or eggplant.

This reminds me of a foodie version of a psychiatrist holding up random flashcards and asking the patient to interpret what s/he sees.

I think the proper Freudian answer is that they are all vaginas or penises.

24+ hours later..

Fried okra, it is. Simply fried, a sprinkle of salt and nothing else.

Now that I am looking at it, it doesnt look mysterious at all. I am stumped when I saw it first. The taste gives no clue about it being okra.

My first thought as well, or perhaps something porcine? Isn't that a lovely umbrella shading the mystery food? :raz:

What's this then? (sorry for the small pic)

Okay, gonna take a wild guess here.... it's a blue and white umbrella. I hear umbrellas are a good source of iron.

Okay, another wild guess... rotten icelandic shark meat?
