Ok, to get the ball rolling in NJ:

Northern NJ sushi lunch: on Thursday Dec 2. Indicate if you are interested, and what sushi place you reccomend.

Lunch at the bar, American Grill, Randolph, the following week, whenever Lou says is best. Indicate if you are interested

Central jersey Fine Dining outing...Rats in Hamilton? Frog and the Peach in New Brunswick, Rest Nicholas in Middletown? Indicate preference,

dates available. This will not be a low budget event, menu will be inclusive to include wine.

South jersey...if Katie can help, perhaps Sushi at fuji in Cherry Hill? Wed the 14th? Dinner? Indicate interest

Ok, this thread will either die a slow death, or we'll get a few meals scheduled out of it!

Kim, thanks SO much for taking the initiative on this!!

I'm IN for Dec. 2nd...I like Nori in Caldwell or the sushi place around the corner from the Community Theater in Morristown (can get the name if you want). It's nothing outrageous, but it's good.

Lunch at AAG is a GREAT idea, 'tho my schedule that week is a tad nutty. Once I see the date, I'll let you know if I can make it.

I'd also like to add a dinner at a slightly less expensive location in northern NJ (perhaps even at a BYO?) and will be happy to coordinate arrangements if people want to make suggestions. Ideas that spring to mind: Adega Grill in the Ironbound, Rocca in Glen Ridge or Saffron in E. Hanover, As much as I'd enjoy Rat's, F&tP or Rest Nicholas, but budget-wise, it's tough--and I'm sure I'm not the only one. SO...post responses to Kim but also let me know if you're interested in another dinner!

We are always up for Indian food, so if there's interest in dinner at Saffron, we're likely participants.

Kim:

I'd be happy to schedule a Fuji dinner with Chef Matt. I'd have to check with him for his availability in December. Fuji is in Cinnaminson, NJ on Route 130 North. Not far off of I-295 if that's any help in placing it.

Other South Jersey possibilities are Tortilla Press in Collingswood, which is a very nice Mexican restaurant that's BYOTequila! They make tasty virgin margarita mixes and very good food. Or possibly La Campagne in Cherry Hill for a lovely French country dinner. Chef Eric Hall is an old buddy and I'm certain could come up with a tasting menu for our group.

Lemme know what you have in mind...

I'm in for sushi on the 2nd. Wherever is good for me as long as it's not Nikko (Which is my regular joint) or Midori ( The last 2 times they didn't put chopsticks or soy sauce in my to go, I'm boycotting).

As for lunch at my place, anyday but Thursday, I want to be there. You all give me a idea what you want to eat.

aag - from the new bar menu? or the steak sarnies? doesn't matter, everything is good...

would love to try saffronnj(trying to get there with my friend from england who appreciates good indian food) but the same restrictions apply - i work 3 nights a week.

I'd be in for a dinner at Restaurant Nicholas but only if the wine is an option and not required. I don't drink much...

I would definitely be in for sushi on the 2nd. I will admit to my complete and total lack of sushi eating experience...it' not something I have historically enjoyed, but I'm willing to give it the old college try.

Lunch at AAG would be great too.....any day works for me.

Thanks for spearheading this one, Kim!!

That's okay, Chef...I only eat about 3 things myself. My friends who love sushi have gotten me to try it all, but I only like what I like--and I still enjoy it! If nothing else, I'm always amazed by the combos they put in rolls!

I've emailed Kim to ask what kinds of responses she has received (if any) via PMs; based on that one of us will make a reservation at one of these spots!

Hi all. I would be interested in coming out next month but a weekday would be difficult for me. I would be free in the evening for a north jersey event. I don't like sushi so I would pass on that. I would be interested in going to Lou's place in the evening perhaps.

Looks like the sushi date is the only one with any significant interest at this point.

We'll let this thread ride a bit, see if there is interest in any of the other suggestions made by either me or others, AND, we'll start a NEW thread with specifics on the sushi lunch, with date. location and time..So far, we have Kim, Curlz. Lou, Howard and David, there has been no additional interest vial PM.

I suspect once its more finalized we might get a few more people.

Curlz, it would be great if you initiate the new thread, and make the reservations. Also please get a full address for those of us that need to google/mapquest it. Thanks.

Us folks interested in Saffron aren't significant?

That's OK, I'll get over it.
