The lamb recipe calls for lamb shoulder chops which I haven’t cooked before but lamb shoulder was on sale for $5.99/lb

I love lamb shoulder and shoulder chops (both round bone and arm bone).  I'd really love them slammed on a super hot grill - as they often do in Italy for lamb scottadito (though in theory they use rib chops, but I've had it with shoulder chops on the plate).

Paella, halfway cooked.

@Shelbywhat's your method for your sv tails?

Thaw and then cut down the top of the shell and loosen the meat.  Season--I did Lawry's salt and pepper.  Couple pats of butter.  Vac pac (I had to trim the sharp edges off because they kept puncturing the bag arrrgh). SV at 140F for 45 mins.  Mine were on the smaller side so 45 was plenty.

@Shelby If you make the mashed potatoes the Robuchon way, it's like 50/50 butter/potato - less carbs that way! 🤣

🤣🤣  The doctor seems to have no problem with him having high cholesterol so that's an excellent plan 🤣

what do you mean by ' round bone and arm bone ? '

I might have to get back to TJ's racks of lamb.

many years ago , before they started carrying fresh meat , they had superb frozen racks of lamb.

and they were not that expensive , when purchased for a treat.

they came from Canada , back then.

I think Tj's has racks from NewZealand , and possibly from Canada [ ? pre-tarrif ? ]

Fresh ones , one way or the other.

I think it's really round bone chops and blade chops.

Here are both kinds of shoulder chops...

Oh yes - cut them into chops, marinate them in some olive oil and lemon and rosemary, and throw them on a hot fire...heaven!

This is one of the better products, at a great price, that Trader Joe's carries! I think you can get a rack (8 chops or so) for under $25.

DW went to see some obscure independent movie with her friends and I stayed home to relax with a glass of wine. Made some (slightly too flat) truita de patates and sous vide rabbit legs …

… all while watching Goodfellas. Not sure if it was the wine or the olive & salumi nibbles but when I reached the prison scene where he cuts the garlic with the razor I suddenly felt famished, stopped, went straight to the kitchen and made a huge batch tagliatelle puttanesca

Very good and no leftovers 🥳. My wife returned some two hours later and enjoyed her planned truita, and the rabbit with ensalada rusa

A big-ass pork chop (carved and plated), over a pan sauce made of fond, onion, mushroom, white wine, chicken stock, mustard, butter.  Boiled new potatoes sautéed with olive oil, garlic, pimentón, chives. Salad on the side.  Chef gets the bone.

Also, don't be buying a Cadillac or a mink coat right after you get paid off.

You made great progress using your excess root vegetables! I have put our Odd Box on hold, as I have a hard time keeping up with a weekly "box for two."

Not really….this week’s box contained more potatoes, TWO cabbages, and a butternut squash the size of my thigh 😂. It’s back to square one!

Last night, no root vegetables were harmed in the making of dinner. Linguini with clams
