Late brunch for a friend's birthday and she loves a Mexican Coffee cocktail. Ordinarily I don't stock tequila or Kahlua, but I do now. A really delicious drink, of course with a float of cream. We served them with dessert.

Ive been looking into hard cider recently ,

and have come up w some refreshing results , both at Totl Wine and Trader Joes.

TJ's has a yellow label system for items exclusive to them , and a white label for non-exclusive

items.   the white label items are usually cheaper @ totalWine.

Tj's

is excellent . dry , but not bone Sahara dry.   $ 9.99 12 12

Tj's also have Stormalong , 12.99  4 cans   the same at Total wine   11.99

https://www.totalwine.com/search/all?text=stormalong

this is dryer , and quite crisp.

tried this from TW today :

IMG_4074.thumb.jpg.4eaafbe94a8c32e4c4df840a752780c5.jpg

IMG_4082.thumb.jpg.9df7f92c014e1904808629791b65a496.jpg

this is very dry and quite tart .  for some reason @ TW $ 9,99  4 cans

this

bbb.thumb.jpg.e42a2faca9c8f513d2dee1757441331e.jpg

is very interesting .  its unfiltered , and resembles cider you purchased at an orchard that you then let ferment

at room temp , to your desired  dryness .  thus , you might enjoy the orchards best , w some sweetness , by refrigerating

before the natural yeast give up and die.

this version has a little sweetness left to it.  not too much , but not bone dry as I like the natural orchard stuff.

there are many more brands in my area than there were 5 0r so years ago .

one brand , Angry Orchard I don't care for at all .   it taste a bit soapy to me.

so TJ's  exclusive for most of the time , and an occasional storm along , but from TW mot TJ's

@weinoo

don't know about TJ's NYC , re : prices .

Id find out if your Local has ' yellow ' tags for exclusives  ( cheaper )

and ' white  tags re ' more expensive that Total Whine .

look for the HH , id say , but it might be a NE item ?

one nice thing about Stormalongs :  on the back of the can there is an indicator of  Dry // Sweet :

dddd.thumb.jpg.ad307c18b4d24b15018adbe10f7a4676.jpg

they mention the apple types , but please who remembers what a Baldwin apple taste like ?

and their description :

cccc.jpg.f4213f8e1ecabde1930db722048245eb.jpg

leave a lot to new desires :  mo oak whatsoever .

apparently , the place is very near to me

this one:

https://www.stormalong.com/cider/mass-appeal

was a bit sweet .  however , ice cold , w a bit of added selzer to cut the sweetness , one of those little umbrellas

a small plastic ' sword '  w stabbed  pineapple , cherries , mango  etc

on a hot humid day :   would do very nicely.

https://www.stormalong.com/

is very near me

OIll have to stop by.

take some pic.  etc

Mystiqanna Amsterdam Gin.

Dutch gin distilled with hemp (no THC), but flavoured with the herbal cannabis. 40% by volume. Very pleasant.

¥168.81 / $23.26 USD for 500 ml.

Sounds yummy! They ship to Namibia, Argentina and Vatican City among other places, just not to the US. Why?

Sorry. That I can't answer. I can buy it in China. I just did.

Ive been tasting and  enjoying local cider.

temp is up  this afternoon , along w humidity so :

the above brew .  Ice cold , w added ice.  a no-no for beer aficionados

but O like it

Id forgotten how good this beer is :

nice bite , but full bodied ,  creamy and fruity.

the creamy fruitiness reminds me of Golden Eagle Indian  beer:

qqqqq.thumb.jpg.879d2e28118f3c157197f2070773cacc.jpg

I used to get this at a mighty fine Indian restaurant in Boston   Kebab and Curry ,on Mass Ave.

the can was 16 oz  ,  so it certainly had its effects.

enjoyed w my nIndian-ish dinner Here:

so , taking a few Chablis to try , simple selection from TotalWine

similarly priced , and decently rated.  91 // 92 // 96

Oysters ( many ) // Scallops // local catch , baked w season breadcrumbs.

hope to remember to take some pics .

as a further note:

last weekend I took two bottles of Chablis to the WHPS  , as there were two people :

dd.thumb.jpg.f090a2b4a04dd376ab1f08573fe78d41.jpg

and

ee.thumb.jpg.b3cccc5b5ca5124a3a20b3f9aa8ec3fd.jpg

same maker , just a few dollars difference.   these were ' o0ff the shelf '

ie  chosen price range .

both were decent .  the Petit Chablis had a bit more aroma  ( not enough to matter , really )

but more body .  it would be the one Id pick of the two .  it also had a higher  ' independent '

ie not TW click in customers .

in the above three  for next weekend , I moved up one price category

and the Petit Chablis has a higher rating.

Im wondering if the P.S. get more attention than that Chablis itself

and yes, I know all about the ' terroir ' and French Politics and the economic impoact

to increase the Hectare 's  that are Chablis , Petit or not.

back in the day , a long long time ago , 1st Cru Chablis were not that expensive , compared

to other wines , ' in your price range '   ie mine.

no longer
