Poached egg on toasted Forkish bread

Had just the right amount of pepper and suddenly the mill released a bolus?

Have dough rising in the Thermomix for some sandwich bread which I will bake in the combi oven in a loaf pan. I based my recipe on one I found on the William Sonoma site. It called for 100% rustic whole wheat flour. I do not like that much whole wheat in my bread so I reduced it to one third and used all-purpose for the remainder. We shall see how it turns out.

I will not doing a lot of cooking today. The fridge is bursting at the seams with leftovers. I do intend to use the left-over rice to make masala rice which I think might be a nice change from fried rice.

Kerry wants to invite one of the docs over for dinner on Sunday so I am working on making something that can wait if it must. He will be covering in Emerg so dinner time is very unpredictable.

And here's the bread. In my oven at home I tip the bread out of the pan and finish it in the stone or the shelf (for at most 5 mins.). Not a good move in the combi! One side of bottom is crispified!

2 ounces aperol

1 ounce gin

3/4 ounce lemon juice

1/4 ounce simple

dash angostura

orange twist

Thanks!  I'll think about picking up some Aperol.

I'm seeing one called Julia's Blush -

  • JULIA’S BLUSH Campari, Citadelle Gin, lemon juice, agave

Yes, that's the real name. That's what happens when I post after dinner. Good drink as well.

Lunch for me before heading off to the dentist - bacon, cheese and tomato sandwich on Anna's just made whole wheat loaf.

Kerry - Was that whole grain mustard on the piece of toast on the left?

In any case, it looks really delicious. Here is the imitation version I just made with Benton's for the bacon and Comté for the cheese. Very tasty, although it was just store-bought white bread.

Pimm's Cup to wash it down (unadorned, no garnish).

It was the mixture of sour cream and whole grain mustard Anna made to dress our salad the other day.  No mayo or miracle whip to be had (also pitched) - Anna has rectified that!

Elise,

Bet your sandwich was much better than mine! Kerry found my bacon in the microwave some hours after lunch.

By the way, that loaf of bread looks pretty good. For the Cuisi, that is.

No complaints. But it has got to jump through hoops to earn a piece of my valuable counter space.

Based on a London Dry - it has juniper, coriander, tangerine peel as well as kava kava root and rose petals.

Have you ever tried Victoria Gin? Made just north of Victoria, BC, it seemed to get some good reviews when it was first released and I know it is carried in some LCBO stores. It is pricey, though. I enjoyed it, but I am not a cocktail specialist, by any means!

Ha, looks like great fun! Did it pass the Kira taste test?

And how is your tooth? Hope the dentist visit worked out well.

Yep - I threw out my old toaster oven to make room.  My big thing now is between the Sous Vide Supreme and my Lello Gelato machine, which weighs so much I can't currently move it from where it is on a regular basis due to my shoulder recovery.  Oh, to get that new Anova and not have to make the decision!

I've seen it in the LCBO - so far haven't jumped in.

Kira thoroughly enjoyed the Air Waffles - ate several.

Dentist and I opted to leave the temporary patch in place and let my dentist at home deal with the crown.  No popcorn!
