Hmmm...food fights remind me of 'Animal House.'

Besides, no one here is as potentially satisfying a pie target as Bill Gates.

i subscibe to the new yorker for film reviews by anthony lane, for malcolm gladwell and susan orleans, for roz chast, for steve martin....

i xeroxed a great cartoon long ago of a teacher before her class, the students holding their heads and grimacing, the caption, "I'm sorry, was I making you think too hard?" it has mysteriously proliferated on my campus.

i like the new yorker. some weeks i read it cover to cover, others i glance at film reviews and toss it. i tend to respond to all my other mags the same way. just because i don't always find a mag relevant doesn't mean it isn't.

Thanks for reminding me of my favorite New Yorker cartoon.

Man on a telephone standing at his office desk, says:

"No, Thursdays out. How's never? Is never good for you?"

CathyL  -- never saw Animal House.  (I'm kinda dated.)

Uh, no, Soba, I think I am.

Liza, my favorite cartoon in the food issue was the waiter saying, "Be careful, these plates are extremely dirty."

One of my all-time favorite New Yorker cartoons is actually a food-related one.

It goes something like this--

This piece of penne pasta is answering his phone and saying, "fusilli, you old SOB, how the hell are you?"

That kind of cracked me up for some reason...

still laughing now :raz:

i don't know if i saw that fussili thing here on egullet or what, but i can say that i totally remember it and thought it was as funny as balls.

That’s the least helpful simile I have ever read.

Wow... I do not normally get the New Yourker but I will make sure to pick up a copy ASAP. It sounds like a real packed issue. Can't wait to read the Mario article.
