Yes, as I recall the Pretz were supposed to get their own photo, but you never took it.

I've adjusted the title of this topic a bit to make it clearer that this topic is about any Japanese (or possibly even Korean) stick-like cookie or cracker snack.

Mmm, Corn Pretz. I really have to stop before I eat the whole box.

Those "Decorer" Pockys on that Otaku site seem new.

Kris, have you tried the Pocky G "Special Cacao" flavor yet? I'm looking forward to this one, as the regular Pocky G is still my favorite by far.

I haven't even noticed that flavor, I will pay attention next time I go to the store.

I beleive it was about $2.40 per box, which makes that 265.30 Japanese Yen. Pocky G was also onsale for $1.99, so I bought two boxes of it! What does it cost in Japan?

Today, I found them selling for 168 yen each, including 5% consumption tax, at a local supermarket.

That seems to be the average price in my area too. Occasionally I have seen them on sale for about 118 to 148 yen.

I grew up eating Pocky too. I think I have a photo of my self at 7 or so doing the "Pocky girl pose" :unsure:

But, talking about Pretz, I saw a Larb flavored Pretz at a Thai market recently. Freaked me out to no end! :blink::blink:

Yeah, the markup on Japanese food goods in the US is insane. But I must have my Pocky.

You think that is bad? You should see the mark up on American stuff in Japan! :biggrin:

their prices average about 2.50 a box for pocky and pretz and other pocky like snacks. they have the limited edition flavors. they also have other food from japan like black black gum, lots of Ramune flavored stuff, pocari sweat, and other stuff.

jlist/jbox has a better selection than most places, but if you live somewhere without a japanese market you could always try any store that sells anime. my local suncoast movie store in the mall has a few flavors (mostly strawberry, chocolate) of pocky.

This is a recent low-tech strategy, called Office Glico, launched by Glico in February 1999 in Osaka, with an initial investment of 3000 yen per installation.

This box, called Refresh Box, is installed in a customer's office upon request. It contains about ten different kinds of Glico products (ranging in market price from 80 to 150 yen). It is not a vending machine. You pull out the drawer, take out a product you want, and put 100 yen in the frog's mouth. All items cost 100 yen each. About once a week, a sales clerk visits the office to refill products and collect money. The rate of collection is as high as 95%. As of the end of August (in 2003?), there are 16000 boxes installed in offices in Osaka and Tokyo.

I've been in American offices where cups of coffee are paid for on the honor system, so someone seems to think it works. Depends how honest the employees are.

I like Men's Pocky, it's dark bittersweet chocolate flavor. If you enjoy dark chocolate this will be your favorite pocky! How about those Giant Pocky sticks?

Those are outrageous. Don't buy imitation pockys from Korea or China, the taste is way different/bad.

That's something I wanted to ask you all. So, there are no manufacturers in the United States that make Pocky-like snacks, all Pocky and Pocky-like snacks you are referring to are imported ones. Right?
