Source for Le Crueset?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to get a square Le Crueset grill pan with panini press for my sister-in-law but they aren't cheap. I've only begun my search and have been to The Cooks Shop and have looked online at department stores. Anyone know somewhere I should keep an eye on for sales? Or simply another source to check? I know The Cooks Shop can be expensive so I'm not sure if their price is good or not. I think the pan alone was about $139.

If you don't mind doing a road trip, there's a Le Creuset outlet at that Seattle Premium Outlet Mall.  They have a pretty good selection....at least they did, last time I was there.

I bought my square Le Creuset Grill Pan at the Le Creuset outlet near Portland last year (prior to the Seattle location opening). For price comparison I paid $80 US.

Mario Battali has a line of Le Creuset rivals going, I just saw his pannini pan c/w lid at the Bay the other week. Don't quote me, but I think it was about $140 or so for said pan - regular price.

Dunlevy also carries fake Le Creuset, which I hear is pretty much the same (I mean, how badly can you screw up epoxy coated cast iron?), but I've never seen a pannini pan, just the usual Dutch oven-type vessels.

I also saw this at Gourmet Warehouse a while ago. Can't remember the price.

Quick question: how is the current Gourmet Warehouse digs compared to the old one? I haven't been there in a looong time.

To keep on topic: if anyone decides to go for a road trip to the premium outlets keep in mind that they have discount coupons available from the casino next door. At least that's what I understand as my bro and his friend had some coupons that they applied to their premium outlet purchases. Not sure exactly how they procured them but just a heads up while you're down there.

Check out Caplanduval.com. They have sales on periodically, and they are located in Canada (Montreal), so there are no nasty duty surprises.

I have ordered from them and I live in the USA. Watch their website for sales. They have some good prices fairly often. I got my 5 1/5 quart oval dutch oven for about $130 US dollars - which is quite a bit less than what the outlet charges. But you have to wait for a sale......but they do happen quite often.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I checked Home Sense tonight and wouldn't you know it they had a big display of Le Creuset but no grill pans. They also had some Staubs items for greatly reduced prices. I also checked Costco but nothing at the moment. I'll slowly make my way through the list.

Although I live in Ontario, I complete my collection of Le Creuset at Home Sense. I was at Ashley's yesterday buying a shower gift and paid twice what I did at Home Sense. If you see the white Le Creuset, stock up as the staff at Ashely's told me they have discontinued it.

By the way they have launched the most beautiful colours this year from turquoise and chocolate brown.

This Panini Grill and Press is available at the Bay department store for $129.99. I saw it in the Persimmon Orange, I didn't check for other colours.

I've looked at the Batali one as well and having never used either I don't know if one is as good as the other. I'm going to post in the Cooking forum to see if anyone has used both.

I'll be downtown tomorrow so I'll try to get to the Bay between appointments. I checked the Bay here in Abbotsord but they don't stock Le Creuset at all.
