Best cake cookbooks

The first cake I ever made that was not from a box was a Maida Heatter recipe. Royal Viennese Walnut Torte from her Great Desserts book. I found the recipe card that I'd copied it on oh those 42 years ago - it was a library book. I have the 35th Anniversary Edition of The Cake Bible preordered:

Will be fun to see what's changed.  Thirty percent new content is promised.  Besides, my thirty year old Cake Bible copy is showing its age.

I am also eagerly awaiting the arrival of my copy!  I'm guessing I'm going to be like a kid with the newest Harry Potter book, reading it by flashlight in bed under the covers 🤣(jk) and seeing what's new.  I've worn out two copies of TCB, many of the recipes we use in the bakery came from that book.

I received my new Cake Bible copy two days ago.  Fortunately the binding seems more sturdy than on the first edition!

Personally I love Gateau: The surprising simplicity of French Cakes. Everything I've made from it has been pretty easy and delicious! That's all I can ask for.
