Good restaurants in Warwick?

A friend is heading to Warwick for the Easter weekend. Any recommendations on where's good to eat (and approx £ per head)?

not sure that Warwick is known as a hotbed of restaurants but if your friend is prepared to drive / cab less than 10 miles, the following have a decent enough reputation

Boot at Lapworth - gastropub - apparently they've also opened a sister branch in Warwick called Saxon Mill which you could google for

Or in Kenilworth, there's Simply Simpsons - which you should do well at?

Sample menus are on the websites so that should give info on opening times and price range?

not particularly high end, in fact not high end at all, but when i was in warwick the other week, i had the best thai meal i've had since i was in thailand last, at a place called the elephant.

I ate at Saxon Mill a while back- it used to be a Beefeater or the like, and the make over is quite something. Its constantly packed, so you'll need to book or have a long wait at the bar downstairs. However the food and service were quite unmemorable, so a better bet IMHO is to go to Kenilworth to simply Simpsons.

You don't do Thai food ? Since when? But I thought you were helped to your star by your signature dish of Tom Yum Gung veloute I may have to reconsider our booking.

Back on topic - isn't there another place in Kenilworth too? -Bosquet(sp)?

I forgot Steve Love's new place just outside Stratford Upon Avon.(If you going to drive...)

I'm not sure if the 16 cover restaurant in the pub is open yet, but the pub looks lovely!

As regards Love's the fine dining restaurant is now open and was reviewed yesterday in the Midland Metro. The style of cooking was compared to The Fat Duck.

Not much in Warwick but Leamington Spa is just down the road. Mallory Court (Michelin Star) for a blow-out or Oscar's for classic French Bistro food at extremely reasonable prices. While you are in Leamington you can visit Aubrey Allen, the butchers reputed to supply Gordon Ramsay.
