@Anna N I don't use a CSO, just a regular oven for bacon, but always at 400 F.

Yeah. Me too but I wanted to start low with the CSO as it has a reputation for cooking things faster than a conventional oven.

It was a stinker of a day today - so it was a wonderful evening to be out. Quite windy when we got out near Schreiber Island - close reach got I her nearly rail down - always fun with non sailors on board!

 

The Wiki Long Term Care staff brought along pizza from the new place in town and a fair amount of beer/wine/coolers. No animals available to be lifted!

No one lost overboard - the cookies must have been put in the sink however and water got in to them (my own damn fault when I was having fun getting her rail down and causing everything down below to hit the deck). Only a couple could be rescued at the end!

So bacon experiment number two in the CSO.

after 15 minutes at 400° F steam bake this is what it looked like. I turned over each piece and return the pan to the oven front to back (mostly to evenly  scorch the parchment paper).  I set the timer for 10 more minutes but after five minutes I checked and got this

For me, perfectly cooked bacon. This was crispy but not shatteringly so. It retained its bacon flavour as it should. Not that I would ever be caught doing this but it can be picked up and eaten with fingers.  YMMV.

 

 Served with a fried egg and blistered cherry tomatoes seasoned with salt and some freshly grated ginger.  Life does not get a whole lot better than this unless of course you can afford one of RobertM's June Ovens. xDxDxDxDxD (me and my bank manager laughing).

price aside, Where's the Steam ?

 

if you feel up to it, try the bacon on the rack that comes with the CSB.  over the pan w + / - parchment liner

 

you might not have to turn the pieces.

 

just a thought.

I don't want to live on a  planet where you can't eat bacon with your fingers. Fingers were the first utensils.

 Hope you know I had my tongue in cheek.  I loved my Gran especially because she always allowed me to eat with my fingers saying they came long before knives and forks.

 First thing that Kerry asked when I brought it to her attention: "Where's the steam?" with an inflection similar to what one uses when asking "Where's the beef?"

Exactly So.

 

all the techies needed to do was a Road Trip  in an Electric Car to their favorite restaurant and see what restaurants use these days.

Pricey, indeed!  It may be wonderful when it comes out, but it's designed for someone else's budget.

 

I must admit that when I followed the link in RobertM's post and got to the photograph with the 3-step labels, the sight brought me up short for a moment.  Item #2 ("June identifies the food with its in-ceiling camera, weighs it, and recommends a cooking program.") reminds me of the Nutri-Matic on the Starship Heart of Gold:
