Drink more whisky; save the planet!

Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt university researchers have

Green hydrogen is normally created using fresh water in a process thought to consume around 20.5 billion litres of fresh water every year.

Wow! I have received a VIP invite for an all-expenses paid visit to Macao next weekend for this.

Three days of whisky tasting (100 whiskies a day)!  Not sure how coherent any reports may be.

At whiskey tastings, does one swallow or spit (cracher) as in wine tasting?

I don't know. I'm going to a whisky tasting; not a whiskey tasting. 🤣

At whisky tasting we spit, depending on the number to be tasted. 3 or 4 I'd swallow; 300 perhaps not.

But seriously, I think spitting denies you an important part of appreciation.

I've been sent some more information on the Macao event this weekend. My bags are packed.

Quote

Whisky Live Macau 2024 will feature four themed booths at each venue, including whisky and spirits tasting, food pairing, live music and a chicken tail garden. The Continental Auditorium on the main venue (fourth floor) offers more than 300 types of whisky, including well-known brands and independent bottling brands. Origins are from Scotland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan, and several wines have landed in Macau for the first time, and there are rare whiskies that are rarely given everyday opportunities to taste, allowing guests to taste the unique taste and rich flavor of various different whiskies. In addition to tasting some of the world's most popular and rare whiskies, participants can interact with producers, distillers and whisky experts.

To coincide with the inaugural Whisky Live event in Macau, the Sydney Keg from Hokkaido Hikaki Beihai Distillery was selected as a souvenir bottle, limited to 130 bottles. The home venue and the cocktail garden offered a culinary match. In addition to fine food prepared by the upper Portuguese team, the conference sought meat, cheese and seafood from Britain and Scotland to match the whisky.

Another highlight of the event is the outdoor cocktail garden, which offers a variety of spirits brands from Britain, the United States, Japan and Hong Kong, and specialty cocktails are managed by many senior distillers from mainland China and Hong Kong to bring a different experience to this whisky event.

As "Whisky Live," Live Music Live shows are a key theme each year. In addition to the exhibition, Whisky Live Macau 2024 We will also collaborate with brands and whisky connoisseurs to organize master classes, specially taught by local experts, on topics such as brand stories, whisky tasting in each wine region, whisky brewing and ripening processes.

"chicken tail garden" - love it!

Yes. It amused me too which is why I didn't correct it. As I'm sure you realise, it's a mistranslation. Should read 'cocktail garden'.

Sounds like there will be whiskey....   Will you taste it?

There will be, yes. One of my close friends is a well-known wine and spirits expert in China, hence the invitation. She assures me the majority will be Scotch and other whisky without an 'e'.  I've tried whiskey before and it's OK in its place I suppose, wherever that may be. But, they will never let me go home if I do otherwise.

With 100s more whisky choices, I'll definitely be concentrating in that direction but after the first 50, I'm not sure it matters!

Hic!
