I didn't I originally see it either. There were some pages (a long blue rectangle, actually) with the words "Some pages are omitted from the book preview". I double clicked on this blue rectangle and new pages appeared. Might work for others...

My mom would take the pie crust trimmings and form a ball. Then she would roll it out flat, spread it with butter then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll into a log, then slice just under 1-inch log pieces. Lay them on their sides and bake them off. I always enjoyed the crunchy caramel-ly bits on the pinwheels.

I was in my local Walmart Neighborhood grocery store and saw that they had their Christmas decorations and candies out already. Among the goods I found Claxton Fruitcake (click....if you scroll down the fruitcake is pictured in the left photo). I must say it is quite heavy for its size and could probably be used as an unperturbed doorstop in a hurricane. Sadly, it's very fruity and there's not much cake to it. Still, I think that has provided my fill for the holiday season. I'm not a fan of boozy fruitcake, either, and this Claxton Fruitcake doesn't seem boozy in the least.

"Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc. Recalls Poultry Products due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination" That's a lot of chicken. There's a link to a spread sheet in the article with a list of products being recalled.

"REVIEW: Hostess Limited Edition Wintermint Ding Dongs and Mint Chocolate Twinkies" There are photos of the products, plus cutaways. I don't think I am brave enough to try either one. The Ding Dongs don't receive any love in this review. Has anyone tried them?

The McD's in my neighborhood has a sign pasted to the drive-thru speaker, something to the effect of "We're out of McRibs and won't be getting anymore the rest of the year. Sorry." I think that franchise owner decided he was through with McRibs and all of the hassles that new ingredients involve.

Rachael Ray is fond of telling her TV audience that Basil should be treated like cut flowers. It doesn't like the refrigerator (where it turns black). Put it in a glass of water and cover loosely with a plastic bag and leave it on your kitchen counter. Then cut off what you need as you need it for your cooking. Change the water every couple of days and it should last quite some time. I told my SIL this tip when she mentioned her Basil always going black in the fridge. She was thrilled and texted me a picture of her thriving Basil "bouquet" on her counter.

Yes, the Trader Joe's Maple Leaf cookies are also in the shape of a leaf. Oreo's version just look like pale Oreo's.

Rubio's is a southern California restaurant chain that was founded on a fish taco. Here's the story behind the chain... "Ralph Rubio Is the Fish Taco King" My brother grew up eating those fish tacos. Today the tacos are more expensive so he only eats there now when they're on sale. But he still loves his Rubio's.

Two recalls: "Nestlé cookie dough recalled because it may have rubber pieces" The article lists the specific products. "Recall alert: Frozen raspberries pulled from freezers due to health concerns" The article lists the specific products.

Oreo's came up with a new flavor, Maple Creme. It's a complete rip off of Trader Joe's Maple Leaf cookies and definitely not better than Trader Joe's. The Oreo version has the "blond" cookie base and some sort of crunchy sugar in the creme which I think is totally annoying. Pass on these cookies...

I've made Martha Stewart's Prime Rib. She starts at 450 to give it the crispy crust and then turns the temp down to 350 for the rest of the time in the oven. It's that first 20 minutes that give it the crunchy crust. As long as you don't tent it with foil, the crust should stay crunchy. Never made leg of lamb so I can't tell you if your method in question would work.

"Restaurants Are Dealing With an Avalanche of Special Requests. One Chef Has Had Enough." He's drawn the proverbial line in the sand. He's certainly within his rights to do so. Will it impact his business? Certainly other chefs will follow his lead. Is this a good thing or not? Let's talk...

@kayb Do you think this was the recipe (click)?

"Reese’s is unveiling its first new holiday shapes in 20 years" If you scroll down the article someone tweeted a picture of the three Reeses shapes and I am stumped, as well, as to what they could be. I am sure they eat the same as the regular Reeses candy. And the Sweet Cinnamon Mini Kit Kats sound good. If anyone takes one for the team, please post your assessment.
