  7. Just an FYI... It's a new month/year and new cookbooks are on sale at Amazon. That being said, the overwhelming theme of the current cookbooks on sale are diet cookbooks, which is why I haven't posted anything from the current crop of sale-priced e-cookbooks. Feel free to peruse the offerings on your own.
  8. "Kit Kat JUST Released Two Limited Edition Flavors" They've released so many different flavors this just seems ordinary now. Has anyone tried them?

    Dinner 2020

No pics of my usual lucky New Year's Day dinner: Corned Beef cooked in a slow cooker, with boiled red bliss potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Added Beaver brand extra hot Horseradish as a condiment for the corned beef and balsamic vinegar (just a splash) on the cabbage. Quite tasty!
  10. I couldn't believe it...Here it was December 28th and Walmart had out their Valentine's Day candy and greeting cards already. Yeesh.
  11. I concur with everyone who says they taste the celery. Lawry's can use the phrase "NATURAL FLAVOR" to describe a lot of herbs and spices and not have to be specific about it.
  12. My mom swore by the Dawn Power Dissolver. When they stopped making it, I resorted to finding it on eBay for her. I have her last remaining bottles. I do dishes in the manner like the Dawn company says is the "new" way of washing dishes...using the Dawn Dishwashing Foam. I don't have a dishwasher and usually don't have a lot of dishes that need cleaning at one time, so it's just more efficient for me to do them in a piecemeal fashion. This (click) is the Dawn product I use (though I don't buy it on Amazon...I get it at local grocery stores). Works for me!

    Popeyes

I finally tried the infamous chicken sandwich last night. I enjoyed it. Yes, the breaded cutlet in the sandwich is huge. I saved half of the sandwich for my lunch today. What I liked about the sandwich was how it "steamed" a little in the bag so the bun was really quite soft in contrast to the very crispy breading. I ended up with crunchy and soft in every bite. My sandwich did come with some mayo so it wasn't too dry at all. I like the Popeye's breading & spices so I enjoyed the sandwich. KFC used to be King of Fast Food Fried Chicken but I think they have reduced the amount of herbs and spices in their breading so much that what used to make it special is just a memory now.
  14. A friend sent me a belated birthday present of homemade caramel popcorn (I swear I could smell the butter before I even opened the package) along with 2 dozen of her Oatmeal Raisin cookies. Yes, I like raisins, so there! I am in seventh heaven munching on the popcorn.
  15. "Bravo's Top Chef Brings Back All Stars for New Season — See Who Will Be Returning to the Kitchen" This season is the second time they've had an All-Star cast. The article lists the contestants who will be appearing (reappearing?) this season.
  16. For the foodie in your household... "You Can Now Engrave Personalized Messages on KitchenAid Stand Mixers" KitchenAid has really upped their game recently. The new line of mixing bowl designs reflect this. Does anyone have any of the new bowls?

    IHOP

IHOP, formally known as the International House of Pancakes, is entering the fast food restaurant genre: "IHOP introduces new restaurant, Flip’d by IHOP, with faster service and Pancake Bowls" How nice of them to pre-abbreviate the name for all of the texters out there.
  19. "Hershey's Kisses have officially entered the cereal aisle" Interesting. If you find this in the cereal aisle, please buy a box and take one for the team.
  20. I think breadcrumbs are sometimes labeled as a filler by mistake. My mom always added milk-soaked bread to her meatloaf. Unbeknownst to her, she was actually making a panade which helped make her meatloaf tender. I've posted about this before but when I grew up and moved away, from home, I decided to make her meatloaf but without the "filler" of the bread. It turned out to be the heaviest doorstop of a meatloaf I'd ever eaten. Just terrible. I learned my lesson that not all filler is filler.
