That's crazy. But I've seen the same markup on other Amazon products. And VeeTee's shipping has to be a joke...the packages have hardly any weight to them. Perhaps all that money is for the "handling" part of Shipping and Handling. I looked at Walmart's web site and they do have the rice but it's currently out of stock. Sorry!

I was shopping recently in my local grocery store and saw a new rice product. The brand name is VeeTee and they make Microwaveable Rice. I am not a shill for them and have nothing to gain for pointing this product out. Click here and on their web site click on "Shop" and scroll down to see the different kinds of rice they offer. I have tried other shelf-stable "ready to eat...just microwave it" rice products and, to me, they had an odd "off" flavor (Uncle Ben's, I'm looking at you ). I bought a couple of the VeeTee rice products and was surprised at how good they were. The "plain" long grain rice tasted like I had just cooked it on my stovetop. There was no "off" flavor. There aren't really directions on how to cook it except for a small circle on the face of the product that says to microwave it for 2 minutes. It also says on the packaging that it could either be a serving a a Main for one person, or as a side for two people. I thought there was a lot of rice in the package and would probably split it between two meals in the future. It's a little disconcerting for me to see these packages of already-cooked rice sitting on a store shelf without refrigeration. But this is a new era of food packaging, I guess. I am curious if anyone else has tried the VeeTee rice and what you thought.

Much, much thinner. There's a clip in the video showing him at his top weight and it's a striking contrast to his weight now. And please, Mario, the man-bun went out of fashion years ago. Give it up.

BK is attempting to broaden their breakfast offerings with three "waffle sandwiches" that come with either ham, bacon or sausage. Here's what they look like: "Three New Maple Waffle Breakfast Sandwiches Are Officially on Burger King's Breakfast Menu" There's a 2nd photo of the sandwiches in the article which also illustrates why I don't eat breakfast at BK. Look at the egg in the sandwiches. It's like they get sheets of eggs that they cut up to fit the sandwiches. Those sheets of eggs don't communicate "just made fresh" to me. Maybe they get powdered eggs. I don't know. They just don't look appetizing,IMHO.

Did you try Googling? That always helps. And even if you don't find a local source, you may find someone who is aware of a local source. I have not contacted any of these "finds": THISTLE MEATS 160 Petaluma Blvd. Petaluma, CA 94952 (707) 772-5442 www.thistlemeats.com http://www.sonomacountymeatco.com 707-521-0121 35 Sebastopol Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 If you Google for "Sonoma County Charcuterie" you get a lot of restaurants serving charcuterie but most should have local sources. Here's a farm/source who will sell you a pork jowl (click). Good luck on your search. Let us know what you find.

Reviving this ancient discussion... "Cinnamon Coca-Cola coming to the U.S." I have always thought the cinnamon flavor in Coke was very "assertive". I wonder how over-the-top this new flavor will be. They also announced (and the very end of the article) that the other new flavor for the holidays is a limited-edition Winter Spiced Cranberry Sprite. This makes me wonder what the "Winter Spice" will be.

My mom would make Taco Salads during the hot days of summer...not too heavy and very tasty. It'd be a chopped green salad with Taco fixin's as ingredients. The protein would be shredded chicken, or sauteed ground beef, drained and cooled. The dressing would be bottled Italian dressing with some Taco Seasoning from a packet mixed in. The "tortilla" would be crunched up tortilla chips (like original plain Doritos). All of us kids loved it. Thanks for posting this!

Not sure if you will see coupons since the sandwiches are so new. Right now McD's is selling them 2 for $3(US) which is why I gave them a try.

Some pics for you of the two breakfast chicken sandwiches. I added a little honey mustard to the biscuit because it doesn't have any condiment (they seem to be relying on the mositness of the chicken for their customers to be able to eat it without choking). Though I think just honey , or better yet, honey butter would be a good addition. The Mcgriddle "muffins" are less sweet than the regular McGriddle muffins because they're counting on the blueberries to add enough sweet flavor. And as you can see with both images, the chicken is a little larger than the biscuits/McGriddle muffins.

It's a boneless breaded "cutlet" but the breading was not crunchy. I had a chicken biscuit this morning from McD's and the chicken piece was larger than the biscuits.

Correlation between Miracle Whip users and Ketchup users?
Toliver replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
During the estate sale for my mom's home, a woman saw her metal meat grinder for sale (the kind that clamps onto the edge of the counter). She said her mom used it for Pot Roast hash, which we weren't familiar with. She describe it as everything you had along with the pot roast (carrots, potatoes, onions, etc) put through the grinder then fried up as a hash. I love a good pot roast and all the trimmings. Her description made me want to at least try it someday. And y'all better get a big batch of the tar and feathers because I also like ketchup on my (canned) corned beef hash. I cook the hash in a cast iron skillet so I get lots of crispy bits. Ketchup gilds the lily for me. -

I'm liking the morning Chicken Biscuits...they're a little on the dry side but still liking them. The Chicken McGriddle (with blueberries) is a little too blueberry-ish for me. McD's is catching some flack for their "recyclable" paper straws...that can't be recycled. Oops! "McDonald's new 'eco-friendly' paper straws cannot be recycled" DOH!

"Angry Butterfinger fans slam the candy bar's new recipe as 'trash' and 'nasty' " From looking at the picture of the two side-by-side candy bars, you can see that the new version is a lot skinnier. I guess someone is saving some money, eh?

"Zombie Skittles Are Already Wandering into Stores, and They Come with a Trick" I guess it's a riff off of the Jelly Belly flavors that came out for the Harry Potter movies. I am not a fan of Skittles so I will pass. If anyone takes one for the them and actually finds the Zombie-flavored Skittle, please report back.
