    Costco

This. This is the key. The Costco's down in San Diego & Santee are wonderfully run. You always find what you're looking for and it's usually in-stock. My local Costco's are run by a different regional manager and I can sure tell the difference. The products being offered are either odd or definitely something for the "B Team". A lot of what I can find in the San Diego Costco's are completely missing in my local Costco's. It's frustrating to say the least.

    Costco

Since my local Costco Food Court stopped carrying the Polish Dogs, I ended up buying them in the refrigerated section of Costco. There are 14 Polish Dogs in a Costco package. I break them down into smaller packages (2 dogs per plastic zippered bag) and store them in my freezer. It was too hot to cook last night so I chopped up the dogs, heated them in my microwave, then mixed them with a nice mustard and some pickled onions (didn't have sauerkraut on hand which would have been ideal). The Polish Dogs are quite "rich" so you really need to eat them with something acidic for a nice balance. They're quite long and you definitely need an extra long bun if you're going that route in consuming them. That being said, the last time I was at Costco I noticed they had removed the BBQ sandwich off the menu board. WTF? Why would they remove that delicious sandwich and leave the fake protein Al Pastor salad on the menu? I just couldn't believe it. And that innocuous Chicken Bake was still there. It's is so bland I don't know why it's still hanging around. It's the "beige" of food court foods. Now if Costco just put some of their Costco Pesto inside them, it would improve them 100-fold. But hey, I'm not in charge...I just pretend I am...
  7. My mom said it was her responsibility, as a child, to add the yellow coloring and mix it into the margarine for use by her family. She used margarine the rest of her life.

    Doritos

"Doritos to Introduce Sriracha-Flavored Chip" Something to look out for in the near future...
  9. Yes, Trader Joe's Unexpected Cheddar is very good. One of my favorites when I shop at the store. That might be the Envy apple...the tiny white dots look familiar. But wouldn't put good money on it...
  10. Some bargain-priced cookbooks, some not-so-bargain-priced: Ali Maffucci's "Inspiralized and Beyond: Spiralize, Chop, Rice, and Mash Your Vegetables into Creative, Craveable Meals: A Cookbook" Kindle Edition $1.99US Surprisingly 5-star reviewed by all who responded. Chow Mezger's "Jude's Ice Cream & Desserts: Scoops, bakes, shakes and sauces" Kindle Edition $.99US Metric measurements plus Imperial measurements. There's a recipe for "Roasted Carrot and Wheat Berry Salad with Dill" on this cookbook's Amazon info page. This is the lowest price I've seen on this cookbook. Jane Ziegelman's "97 Orchard: An Edible History of Five Immigrant Families in One New York Tenement" Kindle Edition $1.99US More historical than a cookbook...only 40 recipes in the book pertaining to the families profiled. Slightly pricier, with over 300 recipes: "Mastery of the SAUCES (The Culinary Library Book 3)" Kindle Edition $3.99US Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the listing of recipes.
  11. @andiesenji is the one who turned me onto Envy apples. Superb crispness and sweetness. Let us know what you think. And how was the Naan?
  12. "Elevation Foods Recalls Packaged Egg Salad, Tuna Salad, Thai Lobster Salad, and Archer Farms Deviled Egg Sandwiches Because of Possible Health Risk" Archer Farms is an in-store Target brand name. See the FDA article for specific items that are being recalled. (Frustrating that they didn't include which states the products were sent to...and it doesn't help that now I am jonesing for a Thai Lobster salad or a Deviled Egg sandwich).

    Dinner 2019

@liamsaunt, more info, please, about how you made these? I would think the moisture in the zucchini would make the attempt to make them crisp nigh near impossible. Thanks!
  14. "Pringles’ new flavors taste like our 2 favorite comfort foods" Lordy, guess I will have to step into a Dollar General to try these out. They're a limited time release...just through the month of August. If anyone takes one for the proverbial team, please post your reactions.
  15. This. I cannot stand the taste of it.
  16. Rachael Ray is a big fan of adding a little nutmeg when cooking greens. She's Italian so her ethnicity doesn't match yours. She also adds it to any and all white sauces that she makes. My mom would "can" peaches every summer. She'd cook the peaches with some nutmeg and cinnamon and freeze it in milk cartons. She'd make peach cobbler on Winter holidays and it was a lovely taste of summer. But with fresh peaches at the height of the season, she'd serve them sliced and ice cold with no spices. Refreshing!
  17. "Pita Pal Foods, LP Recalls Various Hummus and Dips Due to Possible Health Risk" See the posting on the FDA page for a complete (long) list of products being recalled.

  24. It has a bell in silhouette on the label which sort of looks like this wine label (click). Maybe they redesigned the label? Or it may be the same winery but a different wine? Edited to add: Here's something more dead-on: Click
  25. I would take my mom out for breakfast at a local popular diner and sometimes we were seated near the bar (where single senior men would sit to eat so they didn't have to take up a table), I would have to remind the men during their arguments about the news of the day that there were ladies present and they needed to watch their language and volume. I think they were used to their single lives and would get so wrapped up in their conversations/arguments that civility seemed to fly out the window.
