  1. I don't much care for flat water. I keep small (glass) bottles of S. Pellagrino around in case I want some (sparkling) water of if I need it for a cocktail. There's been so much talk about how people need to drink 8 glasses a day. Then I saw results from tests done on twins. One would drink water only when thirsty; the other drank 8 glasses a day. At the end of the test there was no difference.

    Breakfast! 2018

A couple months ago while unpacking my groceries I discovered a big can of salmon that had not been in my cart. I did remember seeing it on the belt in front of me in the next shopper's goods. Somehow the checker assigned it to me instead. I had been planning to use it for add-ons to my dogs' food but so far it's still on the shelf. Now maybe from reading through this thread here I can find a better way to use it up.
  5. Old topic, this. Welcoming the winter temps and snow here, I made my winter hot punch... Cranberry and pineapple juice, water, along with brown sugar, salt, whole allspice, whole cloves and broken cinnamon sticks. Added rum, brandy and Rye whiskey. It really warms me up.
  6. Today only at Williams Sonoma, 20% off any one item and free shipping with coupon code 'vote'. Some exclusions apply. I just ordered my Microplane Ginger (and garlic) Grater
  7. I’m a big fan of Two Potato Gratin. There are many recipe variations online.
  8. On a PETA level that would bother me very much too. You could complain to Purdue, for what it's be worth.
  9. For me it was LIVER! I was forced to eat it so I'd get up during dinner and go to the sink and throw the disgusting stuff behind the refrigerator. Didn't get caught til Mom moved the fridge to clean and found the moldy liver. By that time I'd been excused from that particular meat, along with the dreaded hominy that I also hated. Everything else I ate with no complaints.

    Dinner 2018

Yeah, well I had lunch out today which means no real dinner. I survived on a handful of bagel chips followed by a half dozen Hershey minis from the Halloween sack of candy.
  11. They're just not included in modern flatware sets. I miss having them.
  12. It's just not good business to find fault with the customer. She probably has experience with poor customer service in past transactions elsewhere. I didn’t see her pointing fingers at you.
  13. What's become of the round soup spoons that I remember from years ago?
  14. No. Way too futuristic to me. I'd be willing to bet that if you go with anything this modern that you'd be replacing it very soon. I think many folk would complain about it. It looks like plastic in the photo (I realize it’s not.)
  15. I prefer substantial pieces like this.
  16. @gfron1 No no no.....I would hate to have to eat with those pieces!
  17. That's what they were called in my part of the world too. Haven't seen any in a very, very long time.
  18. It would be necessary to know where you live to give meaningful advice.
  19. I just discovered cold brew coffee this summer,. I use the packs that Starbucks makes and mix the finished brew with milk and vanilla syrup served over ice....it's really good stuff. sorry for the hijack.
  20. What a beautiful glass!
  21. My liquor store was out of Absolut Peppar so I bought STOL Hot instead, Big mistake, it's awful. I'll have to use it up in my bloody Mary’s instead. It tasted terrible when I used it in my Gibson.

    Dinner 2018

I made this recipe last night....served with toasted and buttered ciabatta. A very good recipe. (I did add the beef sausage which was quite good.)
  23. Amazingly enough there's one in Montana, though not exactly in my back yard so I'll have to enjoy it by proxy.
  24. I meant the difference between ordinary green cabbage and the savoy type.
