    Dinner 2018

My potato salad made from the rescued garage-stored potatoes that had turned to stinky slime did not agree with me ( I'm guessing that was the issue). It disagreed with me and my body *cough* dispelled it ...probably TMI. Said potatoes seemed okay so I don't know. So I made a Shrimp Louie for dinner with the rest of my lettuce. Must not have been my day because my steamed HB eggs didn't get cooked long enough and were relegated to Mr. garbage disposal. How many things can go wrong in one day?

    Popsicles

I was impressed with that too.
  3. Cooks Illustrated best-rated half sheet pan is Nordic Ware's at $14.97 (price listed when tested).
  4. I was equally impressed with the Teamfar lasagna pan that I got recently. I'd definitely look at their line if I were looking to replace my half sheet pans. Also, the W-S Gold Touch pans are unbeatable if you don't mind paying a bit more.
  5. I managed to salvage enough of the potatoes from the garage disaster to make my potato salad. I used the iPod method to PC the potatoes with the eggs for five minutes (longer because my eggs were cold and Jumbo size). Quick released. One egg was perfect, the other cracked open during cooking. Additionally, the potatoes darkened some during cooking.
  6. I decided this morning to prepare a potato salad to have this evening. I store my potatoes in a basket out in the garage . I dumped the potatoes out of their bag and thought I'd gag from the smell. Said garage gets pretty hot in summer and I should have stored the potatoes in the garage fridge but I didn't. Memo to self: When it's hot, keep potatoes in the fridge lest I die from the disgusting smell of rotten potato that will linger for a good long while.
  7. The top shelf of my side by side freezer is used exclusively for a tray of big ice cubs, a bottle of gin and a bottle of vodka..
  8. Like most of us, they got wider as they got older.

    Dinner 2018

I watched an episode of ATK on Saturday that featured Farmhouse Chicken Noodle Soup. It was prepared in a Fissler pressure cooker, however, I'll use my ipot. It looked SO good that'm dying to make it. Just have to wait til our temps drop about 40 degrees and get back to the 60s F. Maybe next month.
  13. DH and I were friends with a couple and he made excellent smoked salmon. He and hubster had been friends for many years; they worked at the same company and socialized quite a lot. We'd go skiing and they'd stay at our home. DH bought a smoker and thought he'd like to try his hand with smoking some salmon. Asked his friend to show him how to do it and 'friend' told him , sorry it's my Dad's family's recipe and I can't share it. What a dick.
  14. Met up with a friend yesterday for lunch at our favorite cafe. We both had the same; French Toast, link sausage and country potatoes and diet Coke.
  15. I had a recipe that I'd clipped from a magazine sometime in the 80s. It was a beef pot pie. I made it a couple of times and it was absolutely the best! Somehow I misplaced the recipe and have been searching for it ever since. I've also looked at other sources for it or similar and after all this time still haven't yet found anything (not really about not sharing.)
  16. I did the same as you, finally got mine after three tries...from a different seller.
  17. I think you have / have had at least one of every piece of kitchen equipment manufactured in the last hundred years!!!
  18. Mom, who was from Pennsylvania Dutch country loved Scrapple. My Dad, however, was from the Deep South. So we never had Scrapple at home; in fact, I have never tasted it. There is still time though.

    Breakfast! 2018

Breakfast was Eggo froz waffles with syrup topped with easy over fried eggs along with breakfast sausages (that sadly had been in the freezer a touch too long - had that off-taste that develops over time.)

    Dinner 2018

My store had both sweet and mild. The color of each was different. The sweet was a more orange color. I couldn't remember which one the recipe used so I guessed it was the mild. I was wrong but as you've said, it probably didn't matter. Maybe it was all the tomato product in the lasagna that gave me indigestion.

    Dinner 2018

My lasagna turned out very good (CI recipe). Unfortunately it has given me indegestion for some reason. The recipe specified sweet Italian sausage; I used mild Italian sausage. Is there a difference?
  22. That is SO revolting!
  23. Other than meats is it necessary to rest foods such as lasagna or other casserole dishes?
  24. i bought some large organic beets recently; pressure cooked in the ipot for 30 minutes...perfection.
