  2. Not to be a bit of an enabler , but there is an Amazon ' coupon ' , good until Feb 19th bringing the price down to $ 101. two extra cups are $ 19 , thus for $ 120 , the original price , you get 5 cups. just saying.
  3. The unit comed w 4 cups so , is you have the freezer space , and the unit works well you could make a more standard sized Rx , and have 4 ( or so ) individual servings depending on the Rx's unit volume. or buy a few more processing cups , and have a variety of individual servings .

    Asparagus dressed with pancetta vinaigrette and topped with a boiled egg. Spicy cornmeal biscuit and little tomatoes on the side.

  8. My only question is: A cup is enough for 2 people?
  9. I should have mentioned that I paid $90 Cdn. for this. It comes with a rather meager instruction and recipe book. There are only 12 recipes, none containing eggs. However, I intend to scale down one of my favourite ice cream recipes that use eggs to see how that works. The one I'm thinking of is roasted strawberry ice cream. I roasted the strawberries in the summer when they were at their peak and they are in the freezer. I'll also be trying a peach yogurt. Same thing, peaches were frozen last summer. Meanwhile, last night I made the vanilla ice cream mixture from the book and will spin it tomorrow. That recipe consists of 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup whole milk, 3 T granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and a pinch of salt. It does look like a hand-held version on the Creami and the churning blade looks the same. We'll see how it goes. I'll keep you posted.

  13. What about the recipes for ice cream? For one cup? Does it come with a manual? I can imagine making Philadelphia style ice cream...but what about 7 or 8 eggs or whatever it was. I can no longer remember. I've been making ice cream with cornstarch for so long now. I could use one of those little thingies.
  14. We spent yesterday just sitting on or walking up and down Grace Bay beach. The water was rough, but it’s too cold to swim anyway. The waves were large We walked the length of the beach. This is the pier in front of the Club Med resort. The end of it is long gone Grace Bay Club automatically made us a dinner reservation at Infiniti when we checked in, but I did not want to go back there since we had already eaten there earlier in the trip. Instead, my husband read about a French bistro place about 1/2 mile from the club, Le Bouchon du Village, and we were able to snag an early table. It’s an outdoor restaurant as you can see We were the third party to arrive, but by the time we left it was completely full with a long line waiting to get in. Here is the menu, in its entirety The owner of the restaurant also owns a bakery and sandwich shop across the street. They are closed Sundays or we would probably walk back and check it out this morning. Amuse bouche of tomato tart The waiter explained the accompaniments to the various dishes on the menu, and said that they had local wahoo, snapper, tuna, grouper and lobster that evening. He highly recommended the mussels to share as a starter. They came with a plate of skinny fries for dipping in the sauce, but we tried not to eat those haha I chose the snapper buerre blanc, which came with mashed potatoes and the most delicious vegetables. This was by far my favorite plate of food. I cleaned my plate, and I never do that! Husband chose the wahoo, which was lightly dusted with curry and pan seared, then served with the same vegetables I had, rice, and a garlic butter on the side (but in an actual dish this time, not a little plastic cup). He said it was perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert, they brought out a huge tray of things to choose from: various tarts, mousse, tiramisu, and pastries. We decided to indulge and split a creme brulee Then we walked back to the Grace Bay Club for a cup of tea by the windy and chilly fire pit We will probably be doing lunch somewhere instead of dinner today because of the Super Bowl. The Club was planning on hosting a watch party of the lawn if it’s not too cold. We will see what the day brings.

    Looked so delicious I had to try it. And it IS delicious! Thank you @blue_dolphin The only ingredient sub I made was for the honey. Used a low carb sweetener. The fish is red snapper.
  16. You are considerate, generous, and kind! Although I have a contact person at the church, I’m not a member, and I while I know they set aside money in their budget for stocking their pantry, I am not privy to any other details on their buying processes. While I had not heard of Emaco Foodservice, after looking them up, I have heard of the owner, Ema Haq, who is a well known restauranteur, respected for being generous to the community. One of the more visible things he does is that he opens his restaurant every year on Thanksgiving (or maybe Christmas) and dining is free for the food insecure. Coincidentally, I did business with one of his restaurants many years ago in my capacity as coordinator of an educational travel program. His staff worked with me and my less than generous budget so that my group could dine in for dinner one night of their visit. Thank you! Definitely worth investigating. As far as my purchase price for the three compartment hinged styrofoam to go containers, it’s about 15 cents a unit from Costco and maybe 14 at Sam’s. That is what I have used most frequently in the past.

    Had a lovely day yesterday with my sis & BIL who came in from Topeka to help me with some moving chores. We got a lot done and went to a new to us place that is only about a mile from my new house. I did not take pix and technically it was lunch, but it was my only meal yesterday so am putting it here. There is a Viet Plaza where an old strip mall used to be. Many places have changed since it first started about 10 years or so ago, but Broken Rice has been there for a while now. It is bright, clean and service is attentive. My BIL and I both had sliced pork banh mi. It was voted best banh mi in the KC metro area. My sis had sliced pork woven noodles. We shared an appetizer platter. It was all delicious. The baguette was wonderful. I've not had one that good in years. They bake them in-house. Best part is, I have half my sandwich left. I'd thought I'd eat it last night, but I was still too full, so I'll have it today.
  19. I like spice. I like chicken. ∴ I like spicy chicken 🐔 . But I have to be careful. Spicy chicken is 辣鸡(là jī). Falling tone then high flat tone. If I mess up and use two high flat tones, I have ordered myself a plate of 垃圾 (lā jī) which means trash! A few restaurants can probably oblige!
  20. 100% real. I've eaten one similar to the first one; the seafood, although it was served shovel style rather than pail. The meal was a lot of fun; the food was delicious and very hygienic. Remember, most meals in Chinese homes and restaurants are served family style and communal eating is the norm. These images wouldn't appall anyone here.
  21. @liuzhou, do you think those are "real" photos? Or are they simply staged to amuse or appall people? The closest I can come in this country, and the closest I care to come, is from some years back when my darling and I were treated to the sight of a gaggle of friends enjoying all-you-can-eat snow crab legs. The crab legs came in buckets...and kept coming, and coming, and coming...we were impressed at the fun and gusto at that table. (This post shows photos of that activity, but includes a lot more sedate eating, and restaurant decorations.)
  22. I've never heard of it. Given the size and the procedure, it looks like a handheld version of the Ninja Creami. Does that sound fair? At any rate, I'll be curious to see what you think!

    There are lots of recipes out there but this is the one I used. Definitely worth marinating overnight if you can. Up to 3 days is fine. Consider it a gift to your future self as you can pull it out and have a lovely dinner with zero effort.
  24. I purchased this today at Costco. Pictures below show the box it came in and the unpacked appliance. I like that it makes only a cup of ice cream at a time, perfect for 2 people. I'll let you know how it goes. Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone else have one?

    Sookha keema matar (dry-cooked spicy ground beef with peas): This is a long-time favorite, redolent of brown-fried onions, ginger, garlic, cilantro, and garam masala, sharpened with lemon juice. Roasted baby zucchini rounds: Seared with cumin seed, black pepper, garlic, ground coriander seed, ground cumin, and serrano chiles, and then topped with seared tomato wedges, cilantro, and garam masala. Mrs. C said that zucchini and cooked tomatoes are two of her least-favorite things, but she enjoyed this because nothing was cooked to mush.
