Around 4:15-4:30 on Fox News today you can watch me and Stanley-from-California (username food4thought) face off on the issue of cell phones in restaurants.

Steven -- If you are comfortable discussing it and believe food4thought to not mind your response, why is food4thought on the program? Does he work in the restaurant field?

Why not ask food4thought, or did Shaw pick him to appear on the program.

Steven, in the mid-Eighties, artist Mark Kostabi appeared on a UK TV chat show called the Last Resort with Jonathan Ross. Midway through the interview, and with no warning at all, he broke off from the conversation, turned to camera and simply repeated his name over and over. I don't remember anything else about the interview, but I certainly remembered his name.

You should think about pulling something similar on your next networked appearance, only intone the words eGullet.com. The only problem may be that you will never be invited to appear on TV anywhere again (I have never seen Kostabi on the small screen since that day), but thats a small matter.

*Never* attempt a public debate with the FG.

Although I disagree with the FG to the extent that I think cell phone users should be asked to take their calls out of the dining room, it was a fine appearance.

Who said "There are no three star restaurants, only three star meals"?

Nice things about appearing on Fox News:

1. They send a car for you.

2. They have candy and cookies in the green room.

3. The hair lady told me I had nice hair.

4. Terry Keenan is extremely attractive in person, and she's a foodie who may as we speak be lurking on eGullet.

What kind of candy and cookies?? Jeez, be specific.

Did you get made up?

Thanks FG,

I just watched the Vancouver segment and read the article. Good stuff. It will come in handy as I will be in Vancouver week after next. I am on the fence about whether to go to Lumiere or Ouest... Does Lumiere serve lunch? I saw a mention in another thread that Ouest does. I am leaning towards Lumiere for dinner and Ouest for lunch. What would your game plan be?

Did Momo get any special treats during the trip?

The cookies were fresh baked, probably from some sort of caterer. They had chocolate chip and oatmeal. Not bad at all. The candy selection was dime-store generic: Hershey's miniatures, mini Three Musketeers, etc. I ate a few Special Darks; they're not bad. Also there's coffee, tea, and such.

I shared the green room with Tony the Tiger by the way. It's a gal in that uniform.

Watch the Regina segment for your answer.

Last time I checked, neither Ouest nor Lumiere was open for lunch. There are many relevant threads on our Canada board -- check it out.
