The Most Seductive Fruit

Oranges

A quote from the article:

"And the nineteenth-century French painter Paul Cezanne was so besotted with oranges, he couldn’t stop painting them."

( )

"A most seductive fruit" is what this author claims the orange is.

Do you think so?

Or is there another fruit that challenges this claim, to your mind?

Just what IS "the most seductive fruit"?

A very ripe peach.

A very ripe mango.

A juicy fresh fig served with cheese.

A bowl of freshly picked black cherries.

I can't decide!

Marsha Lynch aka "zilla369"

Has anyone ever actually seen a bandit making out?

Uh-huh: just as I thought. Stereotyping.

The multi-sensory appeal of a ripe peach: The perfume, the blush-to-golden color, the yield of the skin and flesh beneath the teeth, the tang and sweetness, the juice running down one's chin.

I'm a canning clean freak because there's no sorry large enough to cover the, "Oops! I gave you botulism" regrets.

My vote is for the pomegranate--it's just. so. sensual. And all that red. And all those seeds.

However, special props go to plums, specifically because of a Suzanne Vega song called My Favorite Plum:

My favorite plum lies in wait for me

I'll be right here, longing endlessly

You'll say that I'm foolish to trust

But it will be mine and I know that it must

'Cause I've seen the rest, yes, and that is the one for me.

mangosteen, the queen of fruits from SE Asia

R.W. "Johnny" Apple of the Times waxes on about the mangosteen, a "tropical fruit about the size of a tangerine, whose leathery maroon shell surrounds moist, fragrant, snow-white segments of ambrosial flesh."

"It is so delicate that it melts in the mouth like ice cream."

doesn't get much sexier than that!

Normally, I'd say that I find really perfect strawberries the most seductive fruit in the world.

But then there's always this line:

"Oh, Beulah, peel me a grape." -- Mae West

Although Sistah Mae could probably make just about anything sound sensuous as all get out.

A Yoinashi Asian pear. It's an heirloom variety that a local orchard (North Star Orchard)grows (along with about 6 others) that just blows me away every time I have one. Very sweet and crisp with enough juice to drip down your chin. Tastes like butterscotch. They're awesome. The best fruit I've ever eaten anywhere.

They should be in season any day now.:wub::wub:

Cherries

Roll them around in your mouth and then rip them apart with your tounge and teeth. Delicious and not too sweet.

Smell and taste are in fact but a single composite sense, whose laboratory is the mouth and its chimney the nose. - Anthelme Brillat-Savarin

Mmmangos. And like with most things sensual I've glutted myself on this fruit (same family as poison ivy  ) to such a degree that I had little sores in the corners of my mouth from the acid. But then I'm a sucker for a little pain with my pleasure.

Shelley: Would you like some pie?

Gordon: MASSIVE, MASSIVE QUANTITIES AND A GLASS OF WATER, SWEETHEART. MY SOCKS ARE ON FIRE.

Edit: Possible new thread "Least seductive fruit" durian, of course not in my opinion.

Definitely not the opinion of many in this tiny corner of my world. Just composing this off my head....

What is seductive about the durian? Who knows?

Not the durian, but the scent of the durian,

Not the spikes, but the challenge of breaking through the barrier,

Not the color of the seeds within, but the texturefeel of the flesh,

Not merely the rich sensation, but the bitter, sweet undertones of tastes,

For there are as many (types of)* durian aficionados as there are varieties of durians,

Let the season begin!

sign,

TP - will not be seduced by fruit, but by dessert.

edit: to add '(types of)'.

Yeah...I caught that (good for you!)...but I just wanted to put that in before the durian got 'misunderstood' (?). Thank you.
