My experience with Kroese was not so awesome, but if I lived and worked in the EU (hmm...) I would definitely try and work something out. I don't think these boxes are their work, though; I would be very surprised if both companies don't have their boxes custom made. They can certainly afford it.

I'm trying to find the style of chocolate box used by richart, or a similar one used by max brenner. Any idea who makes these boxes?

http://www.richart-chocolates.com/

http://www.maxbrenner.com/special/special.html  (number 2 or number 3 on the page )

Those look like they may be from Kroese. There is a thread here somewhere, I think alanamoana and whitetrufflegirl may have ordered from them before. They are overseas, but delivery seems to be pretty quick.

Their website here.

HI Kerry,

I thought it was from kroese as well. I've been emailing him back and forth now a few days. I don't think they make the boxes. they are similar, but i'm looking for the top that slides in, rather than just goes on normally.

Try aspecialtybox they make some nice boxes & sell in small quantities.

Here are three more you may want to check out.

www.modpac.com - www.sweetpackaging.com and www.impresspackaging.com

I know Mod pac will break cases and sell as little as 50. They have a good quality box.

Sweet Packaging also has some impressive boxes but I'm not sure if they sell in small quanities.

for basic boxes, nashville wraps (see above post) has good prices. More high-end boxes at www.chocolat-chocolat.com. For custom stuff and generic boxes in big quantities, try www.tomric.com; they make the inserts for Jacques' heart box as well as boxes and molds that coordinate.

if you look on this site, under products, then luxury packaging, then under chocolate boxes, it shows both garrisson confections and jacque torres listed.

Jack,

Welcome Jack, always a pleasure to add another chocolatier to the ranks. What are you going to put in your new boxes? Inquiring minds want to know!

I wouldn't consider myself a chocolatier just yet. I'm going to be in the transition from pastry chef to chocolatier for the next year or so. As far as what's going in the box......I promise to post photos when I get some chocolates made.

Referencing an earlier thread, Kareen mentions package nakazawa as a great source, and I believe that they send samples.

Another question about boxes, I have nearly exhausted a search for large styrofoam-ish boxes that can either accomodate cavity layers or candy pads. I'm looking for shipping boxes to send across the country in large quantities.

I purchased what I thought was this type of box from chef rubber, but it's much sturdier than I expected (at 20 bucks for the box and 4 for each layer, I should've known) so I use it for storage and it works nicely and keeps everything in one small place, instead of sheet trays all over.

Thanks.

Try Polar Tech. They have an office in Chicago. The person I have dealt with is Will Thomas (1-800-423-2749). They also sell ice brixs.

I am looking into getting some custom made triangular boxes. 2.5 inches on a side & 6" long. It would be cheaper if we could buy a large amount. If anyone has a needs for this type of box, please pm me.

Hope this isn't too off topic or inappropriate.

To get to the point, I would like to find someone that wants to "share" an order of chocolate boxes. The order I am considering is 250 one-piece boxes from U-Line (www.uline.com) for ~$60USD. These boxes fold up easily and hold 1/2LB of candy. I don't want/need 250 but buying them at $1 each from the local art supply store is more than I am willing to pay for something I plan to use often.

The great thing about this company is that I filled out an inquiry form on line and said that I made chocolate candy as a hobby and am interested in a couple of different candy boxes they offer and would they please send me a sample of each. Well, within minutes I had an email indicating that samples would be shipped out that day UPS. Great service! Very helpful. I received four samples of different boxes - 1/2 LB and 1LB fold-up and two-piece. I like the smaller fold up as it will be plenty big and it was easy to put together.

OK, let me know if you are interested. I can send you pictures if you want.

Best,

Michael

Hi Michael:

You might also try Mod-Pac, they have a lot of good stock packaging and pretty small minimum orders.

BTW, I'm also from Solana Beach! Small world isn't it?
