I'd like to try Luger's burger, and McHale's too.

How much is a Luger burger?

I think it's about $6, and only available at lunch.

No kidding?

So, strictly in terms of the stated mission of this elite club, what will determine the best burger.  Or is it like porn, you will know it when you eat it?

Like porn. I personally will know when I don't grumble and rant about it.

I'm sure some of us will disagree, but that's cool.

Would take all the fun out of it, but you could simply make the pilgramage to Jersey, fill up the counter at White Manna and put a quick end to your noble quest.

If someone's willing to drive....

picaman, do you actually eat like... food?

AND to everyone I haven't personally welcomed, glad to have you!

I will take that as a hint in our direction. We'll arrange for a caravan of cars to pick people up from the ferry or something, but not for a couple weeks I think.

i don't think white manna will hold a caravan of cars! (tiny little thing).

It's a habit I've not bothered to break as yet :raz:

Can't afford the high-end on a regular basis, so I make do with what I can afford and save $$$ for special occasions. My most recent "special occasion" was Roberto's, which I learned about on this site, and I gave my impressions here.

Anyway, I'm definitely toward the bottom of the e-gullet bell curve when it comes to food knowledge, but I've had some interesting and varied food experiences in my life, and I'm enjoying learning more by reading this site.

Well, just about any day or time is fine for me except Thursdays. I'm probably lying, but hopeful. Again, this is to get the best burger, so if a Saturday sucks at say, Molly's, we go durring the week. tommy, any difference? You're the only one I know for sure has eaten there several times.

I know Landmark Tavern does not serve burgers at night. Brunch for sure, and lunch a good possibility. (I like their fries, MH  )

sherri - okay we start at Molly's?

Now everyone pipe in their schedules.

Given a little notice, bergerka and I can usually arrange our schedules for weektime lunches.

Although since this is Elyse's idea, I hereby give y'all notice that I'm holding her solely responsible for my waistline as long as Burger Club is in existence.

At present, all times work for me, though I'll be away 10/13-16.

So, you'll do what I say if you expand? I, of course, will not partake of the ensuing workouts.

I would love to join you guys when I can. How much are dues?

In the meantime, you should add these places to the list. They all have excellent meat. It's all about the meat.

Burger Shack (A veritable truck stop in the exclusive confines of the Parker Meridian Hotel on 57th St. Only $4.50)

PJ Clarke's 55th & 3rd (Prime chuck with tenderloin trimmings grilled in butter. One of the great NY bars. Recently sold by the Lavezzo family. Last time I was there a burger was $7-$8)

Fairway's at 75th St (Mitchell London's $8 burger is excellent. Was it down with a $3 Pilsner Urquel)

I thought they called it Burger Joint? The only real sign is a neon burger outside the entrance.

You're right, it's "Burger Joint"

So, are we all OK with initiating our quest at Molly's?

I can do lunchtime or dinnertime. Week or weekend. I'm flexible like that.

Is the weasel (or ferret or whatever the heck that thing is) coming too? To eat the leftovers if we don't like the burgers?

Weasel indeed. That is sweet baby Zebulun, the middle ferret of the three belonging to Sam & me. Issachar, the baby, is the weasely one.

I can't participate, but I have to put in my personal recommendation: Old Town Bar.
