Do you create Food Editorials or Food Non-Fiction?

Give us some insight on how the review is mechanically and philosophically constructed

Thanks

gordon, i'm not sure i understand your question. i've done some restaurant reviewing but i'm primarily a feature writer. write me back and explain more -- i'd be happy to answer if i can.

I would consider food journalism a more factual account and food op-ed a more emotional account of given subjects

Do you feel you can successfully critique a subject you like and one you dislike with equal accuracy ?

i do think you can. although i find that good editors won't ask you to review, say, a book on italian cooking if he knows you don't like italian cooking. he might assign the story to someone who has an interest in and knowledge of italian food.

do you have an example in mind of this conflict?
