No.  It's just a ground pork patty.  Not the greatest product - no better or worse than a McD's burger.  Not at all mushy like Spam - very firm actually.  No bands of fat - like a burger, the fat is incorporated in the meat.

Kim, you spurred me on to get one at lunch time.

At one point as I was eating it I could swear it had a little pork breakfast sausage-like taste beneath the BBQ sauce. A very good lunch but then I was already a fan of the sandwich.

I even ate all of the chopped onions that had fallen out of the McRib into the paper container.

Ah, good times...xD

Don’t get wrong, I would have eaten one or at least split one, it was decent. But I am not giving up my McNuggets and fries for anything!

Well now that I know it has offal in it......

"McDonald's claims that the sandwich is composed primarily of shoulder meat. As it turns out, the truth is much less appetizing. Chicago Magazine broke the story that the ingredients actually consist of restructured meat products like heart, tripe, and scalded stomach.  The McHeart, McTripe, and McScaldedStomach just don't have the same ring, do they? Unfortunately, all three of those names would be more accurate than "the McRib."

(I don't know or care if any of this is true but how great would it be to witness public reaction to a McHeart on the menu.....lol?  - https://delishably.com/dining-out/five-disturbing-facts-about-the-mcrib)

LOLOLOL!  To be honest, like many Americans, I wouldn't eat heart, tripe or stomach.  If they can be manipulated into something I actually enjoy eating - fine by me! 😁

It's the opposite for me. Now that I know that stuff is in there I'm curious.  I'm sure none of it is detectable and I'm sure I don't want to know what evil Sysco science happens to make it so.  Hmm, might have to take one for the team. (They'll need to be a decent amount of alcohol before and after)

Hahahahaha.....I love tripe (so long as it's perfectly white) and heart is really great (it's a muscle after all) and I've not had stomach, but all of these things are tastier than McDonalds. I'm making the famous (should be MORE famous) Tripe in the style of Oporto, portugal right now.

The Chicken Sandwich Wars are heating up...

"McDonald's wants a bite of crispy chicken market with new sandwiches"

Quote

The world’s biggest burger chain confirmed to Reuters it plans to launch its crispy chicken sandwich in “classic”, “deluxe” and “spicy” versions on Feb. 24. All will contain a new crispy white meat chicken fillet served with crinkle-cut pickles on a toasted, buttered potato roll.

When the debut date arrives, please take one for the team and post any reviews of the new chicken sandwiches.:B

Just an FYI...

McD's caves to the voice of the people:

"McDonald's is bringing back Hi-C"

Quote

McDonald's has heard the complaints and is bringing back the fan-favorite Hi-C Orange drink after a nearly four-year absence from soda fountains.

McD  is back to sending me in the mail

2 for 1 offers.

https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us.html

note that now the pics at least imply melted cheese

in 10 to 20 years , they might manage to melt the cheese

actually @ McD

anyway

Vaxx's # 2 is coming up very soon

and I might do a Drive Thr0iugh

for a pair oc Chicken Sand's

maybe Wendy's might send me some coupons

as in the era Before

their crispy spicy CkSand  ( w extra tomato and pickles )

was quite nice

2 for 1 of course.

McD is sending coupon sheets around again.

or , being Vaxx'd I chose to look at one rather than

re-cyle.

I Braved-Up and went to my local , drive through

10:45 am , only one car ahead of me

I got two Crispy Chicken sandwiches  ( CCS )

one was Spicy CCS, the other DeluxCCS

the chicken portion was hot , crispy , and not greasy in each

prep.   the SCCS was nicely spiced , rare for a FFJoint id say.

it had pickles  ( 2 ) and SpecialSauce.  the DCCS  did not have spice

both were hot , and crispy.   the SCCS had lettuce and tomato

the chicken portion was generous Id say for FastFood

the spice covers up the fact that the chicken was on the dry side.

both were.  the tomato helped that out a bit

the buns were on the dryer side of things

overall I think they copied Wendy's Spicy chicken etc

verbatim.   the bun ( its been over a year ) was fresher @ Wendy's

and Wendy's added extra tomato and pickles to the Spicy Crisp. sand.

it came w them initially , unlike the spicy McD version.

I wonder if the bean counters @ McD decided the cost od the SpecialSauce

prohibited the lettuce and tomato on The Spicy .

no SS on the Deluxe , and Im sure McD worked out the expense of the

to the nano-penny.

over all , McD didn't score any points w me

the sandwich should have been Crispy , Spicy , w the tomatoes and lettuce

rather than just putting the tomato and lettuce on only the DeLux.

there was very little DeLux about that sandwich

Wendy's , oil the distant past did this prep much much better

I did bring home both Sand's  and added my own Mayo.

Im coming up on the One Hour Mark

for the experiment.  thought Id better report in

just in case :

I need to " Burn a Hole "

Id know what to do if I were in Normandy

but there is not a drop of Calvados in sight.

I thought of pulling out a StemLess and make up a large

TJ's person home blend White Table Wine

then thought :

" would that lead to a Bezoar ? "

https://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/gastrointestinal-disorders/bezoars-and-foreign-bodies/bezoars

I went for it anyway , as my PersonalBlend

Stands Up to Ice.

so far OK

I should have read @rotuts Crispy Chicken sandwich post closer.  I was on my way somewhere at dinner time and grabbed one to eat on the road.  I got a few miles down the road before realizing that there is NOTHING but a couple of slices of pickle on the sandwich.  No mayo, no sauce, no condiment at ALL.  It was dry going.  I also think they must have run out of the brioche buns, because mine seemed like the one you get with a Quarter Pounder and didn't have the slash across the top.

@Kim Shook

sorry to hear about your

'' Dry Experience "

and I think , if they ran out of the

"" Brioche ""

that might have been an improvement

guess they gave you a LeftOver QP bun.

sorry to hear that.

next time

make sure , if you are in that situation

and very very hungry

get the '' spicy "

or drive on By.

Last week Mrs Dr Teeth, I think swayed by the “Farewell Tour,” advertising brought home a round of McRibs for us and the kids.   I hadn’t had one in 30 years probably.

Ehh.   I think once I every 30 years is fine with me.   It wasn’t terrible, but there was really nothing to recommend it.   I think slopping a patty with BBQ sauce must have somehow been revolutionary back in the day.
