Recently Keebler and Nabisco have introduced some new variations on their classic cookies -- Chips ahoy sandwiches, which are essentially two chips ahoy cookies with oreo-style filling in between, and and Oreo peanut-butter and chocolate, which are two regular oreo sides and a ying/yang swirl of peanut butter and chocolate filling in between that is almost reeses like but a bit more subtle.

I really like the chips ahoys, but the nuances of the new oreos are lost on me. Discuss.

Somewhere there's a book in this.   The lengths to which these companies will go to extend their product lines... to stretch out that brand name just a tiny bit more.

Another recent example:  apparently there are now Rits Bitz (which themselves were an extension of the Ritz brand) made with Graham cracker cookies, with s'mores ingredients between the crackers.  Now the thing that makes a Ritz a Ritz is the cracker... go and change the cracker...

I would like oreos if they didn't have the filling at all.  I'll twist it apart, eat the plain side, and give the other to a young member of my family.  I really hate the filling.

JSD, get some Nabisco Famous Wafers. The size and thickness are slightly different, but the taste is close to plain Oreos. They go down easy with ice cold milk. If you don't like them, use the leftovers for a cheesecake crust.

I went to the grocery store today and they didn't have Nabisco Famous Wafers.  No wonder I'd never heard of them.  I'll keep looking for them.  There were about 12 variations of oreos, however...

I'm not 100% certain, but they may have been hiding out in the baking section. The primary use for these cookies is as crust and some weird "cake" made with Cool Whip.

I think the new Oreo's with peanut butter (Double Delights) are out of this world. I didn't care much for the chocolate filled Oreos, but the peanut butter variety exceeded my expectations.

As for the Chips Ahoy sandwiches, I tried one and gave them away. They were bland and tasteless.

My whole reason for dredging this thread up is to warn everyone about Pepperidge Farm's new line of sandwich cookies called Creme Magnifique. Don't waste $3.99 to try them. These are the worst, dryest, blandest cookies imaginable.

That's how I feel about Pep Farms Goldfish, which is my favorite snack cracker. Now they make them in Pretzel goldfish, which is just totally wrong. I also don't like the goldfish "sandwhich" crackers..those oversized goldfish with peanut butter or cheese in them. I don't mind a cookie vairiation ( the holiday white choc covered oreos are great!) but leave the goldfish and Ritz's alone!

My grandmother wouldn't let me have the center when I was a child. She said it was too sweet. Needless to say, as an adult I crave all the Oreo filling from my repressed childhood!

Those peanut butter Oreos sound fantastic! I'm going to have to try some.

I can picture your grandma going through a newly purchased box of Oreos's, deftly opening them and scraping out the creme centers with a spatula...

What did she do with the leftover filling?

Another new twist, I came across Diet Coke with Lemon yesterday. Quite disgusting. I suppose these gimmicks are perceived to sustain market share.

That new diet coke with lemon is truly vile.

I love pecan sandies. Nobody ever talks about pecan sandies.

How about those mini-oreos? I like those.

Its hideous. It tastes like Pledge.

Vanila Coke isnt bad, but its far better as a mixer for Rum and Cokes (with a twist of lime) than drinking straight.

She probably just threw it out. I can't imagine her and my grandfather 'paryting' with Oreo filling...

For the Oreo lovers out there:

I have found at some recent fairs and festivals that they have Oreo Puffs. Oreo Puffs are Oreo cookies inside of fried funnel cake batter. It is pretty good. The Oreo is warm and slightly melted and who doesn't like funnel cake.

Whoa....that sounds like junk food Nirvana.

Usually they're just called "Fried Oreos". That's what the sign has read when I've seen 'em.

I've been frustrated in getting them though. The idiots at two seperate street fairs screwed me over with promises to make them and then just kept making funnel cakes, so I've yet to taste one.

Holly Moore first talked about these last year, actually. Can't find the thread right now.

new products spotted in the supermarket yesterday:

Ritz Bitz Peanut Butter & Fudge - the flavor probably known as "the one they hadn't gotten around to yet"

Oreo Double Delights Mint & Creme - hot on the heels of Fudge & Creme, Peanut Butter & Fudge, Cream & Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter &... oh, never mind.

Are these products starting to get repetitive?
