Thought I'd bring this back to the top. Last response was in '06.

Not in China Town, but I've had great meals (with friends who've lived in China) at the Chinese place on St. Marks. Get the beef with cumin and tea smoked duck.

Would like to hear where you like to eat in China Town now. :)

Mostly, I go out to Flushing (Fu Run more often than anywhere else). But, this year, Bowery Congee has made me happy more often than any other place in Manhattan.

Which is interesting, because Congee Village on Allen is my favorite place to send larger crowds. Ordering properly is very important at either of these places.

Grace:

Grand Sichuan St. Marks is my standby for pickup and delivery, but in Chinatown, I like South China Garden (formerly Cantoon Garden) best for banquets, and my most common standby for informal solo or small-group dining is Great NY Noodletown. Another good place, especially for lunch (I believe they still close early) is Wing Huang on Lafayette St. Excellent roast duck, as good or possibly better than Noodletown's, and that's saying something.
