Dude. I'm talking about things to buy in NY. Go back to your own forum.

Bah! I'm apparently still asleep. (It's morning out here)

In NY I'll have to trim my list down to just Foo-foo-le-poos.

Here's a few off the top of my head. I reserve the right to add to the list when I'm less busy at work.

Hallo Berlin cart @ 54th/5th

Fresh, cold shell peas from Greenmarket

Blueberries when they are 2/$5.00 like they were at Gourmet Garage the other night

The first good watermelon of the season

The first local corn

Eating outside (preferably in a garden, not at a sidewalk table..unless I'm in Paris, but that belongs on another forum. ) Think Bistro le Jardin in Soho, or Acqua Sante in Brooklyn

Can you tell I'm ready for summer???

The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!" Terry Pratchett

And a mango 'bath' would not sting at all, it would be deluxe!

  • Maple sugar candy
  • Fritatta's
  • Fried chicken at Hattie's in Saratoga Springs

Well, there's already a "What's your favorite thing at a NYC restaurant" thread, and this has been opened up to NY state, so I will admit to a sort of passionate awe for the life-sized statue of Dwight Gooden -- made entirely out of butter -- that I once saw at the New York State fair.

ohhh...the mango preseco cocktail was sooo good. perfect..shaken and served with shards of ice floating in the preseco float...yum. a fresh mango flavor cut with a bit of lemon so it wasn't sweet a shot of vodka and a float of proseco..perfect, dry, so refreshing with a beautiful light mango flavour.

I actually replicated this drink over the weekend for a friends bbq so you are in luck!

1 oz (or 1 1/2 oz if you want a stronger mango flavour) mango juice

splash fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)

1 oz vodka (i was using absolute citron because that's what we had...)

put in shaker with ice, shake as hard as possible (try to get the shards of ice to come out) strain into martini glass fill to top of glass with chilled proseco

they were a huge hit! i made a big pitcher of the juice and vodka, and finished them off individually in the shaker...

oh and mango bath would be good, but habenero bath would SUCK

yay for the butter sculpture!!!

I'm gonna add a few of my favorite NY memories, for the hell of it:

-coffee regular and a buttered roll for breakfast from any cornershop.

-broccoli and garlic sauce and an awesome vegetable fried rice from a specific Forest Hills Chinese joint on Queens boulevard who's name i can't remember.

-doubles, pulouri and beef roti from any of the joints on Liberty Ave.

-A&S Bagels in Hempstead at 3am, especially an everything with butter, a plain with cho chip cc, or a pumpenickale with onion cc.

-salt potatoes and real buffalo wings

- sausage and peppers and pizza frite.
