  1. It's definitely informative to do a cart tasting along Sixth Ave. During lunch, hit up Trini-Pak (chicken and basmati), Kwik-Meal (lamb and rice), and Any Random Cart. And perhaps Moishe's Falafel. Then wait for the sun to go down and go to Best Halal. If you're more ambitious you can start at Rafiqi's near 1 Park Ave and work your way up/over. That should cover a majority of the most talked-about Halal carts in/around midtown (except Moishe's). ← Larry, that sounds great, can you provide exact locations for: Trini-Pak (chicken and basmati), Kwik-Meal (lamb and rice), and Moishe's Falafel
  2. maybe this should be an eGullet gathering for spring.
  3. They are definitely not the banker/lawyer type around the area, it is more like anything from late teens to 30ish looking people who appear to actually go there on purpose from different areas of the city, I'm telling you that the lines are of more that 40-50 people waiting for more than 20 minutes, I think the guy even has a website. http://www.53rdand6th.com/index.html and look at all the entires from google: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=foo...le+Search&meta= I will try to take pics soon to show you
  4. I don't think that is the reason since the lines are HUGE at nights, starting at like 8 PM until 2 or 3 in the morning.
  5. Hello everyone, I pass this food cart every night on my way back home and I'm always amazed at the long lines. Please tell me what their secret is? I have not tried it yet, but I am really anxious to give it a try -jsut trying to find a time when the line is not so crazy!
  6. Have you been to The Modern for dinner (the formal dining room)? I'm thinking of recommending it to my uncle, aunt (and their three teenage daughters) for their wedding anniversary. They want something hip and not too stuffy or formal.
  7. I am still not sure to which one should I go?
  8. and obviously, wine is very important as well.
  9. Friends and family are visiting at the end of August and I want to take them to either of those 3 steakhouses (not Lugers, Striphouse, Sparks or any other). Which one would you recommend? It will be a group of 8-10 people and probably 2 people will not be ordering meat, but the others are true meat lovers? Gracias

  11. Esperanza, what a great picture...it reminded me of the many times I've enjoyed those wonderful ‘hochos’ (as they call them) after a night out drinking with friends...I believe that the secret to them is both the mayo and the serrano (not jalapeno) peppers that they put on them…believe me, they certainly make the hang-over much more bearable.
  12. I have a reservation there for dinner next week with my wife and wanted to ask for your comments about the place, the food, the decor and whether it was worth it or not. I have read great things about the place and am really looking forward to eating there as my Paris-great-dining-experience. I had dinner at Lasserre many years ago and loved it too, is Lucas Carton as good as Lasserre? L
  13. Hi Esperanza, I live in NY, read the NY Times article and sent it to all my friends. Not only did I love the article, but my father was born in Patzcuaro and I have been there a million times (have you visited the new hotel at Ibarra #15? that was my father's house)...love the town, the food, the pescado blanco and "charales." Hope to see you there one of this days. This is my first post ever and I just want to say that I love this forum. Luis
