What kind of alcohol goes well with Chinese food?

Furthermore, what kind of alcohol would you recommend to an alcohol newbie that would go well with the banquet? (I tend not to like overly dry wines -- that said, I'm willing to try just about anything.)

Gewurztraminer or Reisling (although I prefer German ones because of the lower alcohol content) or any other Alsace white like Pinot Gris. High acid is the key.

i'm not sure where you live, but there are a few stores that will certainly steer you in the right direction. nancy's wine, near the upper west side is certainly a good start. website. in fact, if you poke around the website you can probably just make a choice there (they'll all good, for all intents and purposes), and pick it up anywhere.

wine, schwine....I've always ben a fan of light, dry and slightly lemony beers with chinese...Asahi is a great match, Tsing Tao sold in America is a little less dry than that sold in China but still good.

UGH! You won't get my vote on that...its a strong personal preference of mine...unless I am eating Hong Kong Style Cantonese, I prefer beer, tea or sparkling water with my Chinese. Different strokes for different folks, as they say!

Soba, A wine I love with Chinese food is Trimbach Alsace One. Its a blend of 5 different grapes, very fruity with good acid. Its $ 8.99 and readily available. Anouther good choice is any 2001 German Kabinett.
