  1. I'll make it to the UW Pagliacci's next week for the salumi. My boss is taking me out to lunch today for my recent birthday and I'm going to make her spend some money. :)
  2. I'll make a note to come in for lunch on Wednesday!
  3. I'm sure a big reason for the price hike was the move to First Avenue. The rent can't be cheap! I'll still wait for more egulleters to chime in with their reviews before giving it a try. I loved them when they were in the U-District/Ravena.
  4. I think Cafe Lago has Vegitarian Lasagna (or does cheese count as meat).
  5. I am making Prime Rib for friend's this Saturday (my birthday) and Since I'm spending over $100 on the meat I would like the best condiment to go with it. I usually use Haus Barhyte, and have had Inglehoffer, but am wondering if there is anything better easily available in Seattle.
  6. Can someone give me a geographical reference to where this place is?
  7. I'm trying to think of what chef I would be willing to spend $200 to have them cook for me and listen to talk. I am a poor UW secretary and that's about 20% of my paycheck. I don't doubt the food will be exceptional and the experience worth it for those who can afford. But even if I went, I'd have to go alone because even my friend's who make 3 or 4 times the amount of money I do would rather spend their money on their mortgages than have a once in a lifetime culinary experience. (But for what it's worth, if I had realized Anthony Bourdain was the "freak" who hosted "A Cook's Tour" on The Food Network I would have gladly gone.) And I do have a friend who would probably go see Rick Bayliss, but probably not for $200. I love the concept and am still considering going to one of these, but I'd like to know a little more about the chef's as I don't automatically conect a Chef's name to their establishment.
  8. Ah-So Sushi on 65th in Ravenna has closed, been remodeled, and is now a Japanese restaraunt called "Osaka."
  9. Let me first say congratulations! Second, I also recommend El Gaucho, the Met, or Morton's. A big manly hunk of beef is the ticket!
  10. You can download Sport's menu (as a pdf) from here: http://www.sportrestaurant.com/
  11. Another one bites the dust on the Ave. The Pho place in the space formerly known as The Noble Palace, next to the Himalayan Sherpa is also closed and papered up.
  12. Too bad about Wing Dome. I'm not a fan of chicken wings, but they had great chicken sandwiches and popcorn shrimp. They had great hot sauce too. Does anyone know if the other Wing Domes are still in business?
  13. Has anyone compared the Palace Kitchen Burger to that of The Dahlia Lounge and/or Etta's? (I didn't see a burger on the online menu for Lola). I am wondering if they are all essentially the same, (they are similiarly descrribed and are all $11) or if there are noticable differences in Tom Douglas' various establishments.
  14. It's been awhile since I've been, but I seem to remember getting agood burge at Bings in Madison Park.
  15. What are your opinions on Delonghi toaster ovens? I was thinking of buying one that is also a convection oven and rotisere.
  16. Wow! I was just talking about this place to friends last night. Let me know when they are open. I owe a friend a dinner and would love to take them there.
  17. Best restaurant meals in 2004: Sushi at Saito’s and Chiso’s Wood-fired pizza at Pazzo’s, Tutta Bella, The High Life, and Il Fornaio Chateau Briand at El Gaucho (Portland) Shellfish platter at Oceanaire Seafood Room Prawns and Chips at Spud (Greenlake) Delmonico steak at The Metropolitan Grill Chocolate Shake at Tully’s Carnitas at Ooba Toobas (Redmond) Carne Asada at Matador Pork chops at Calypso
  18. I know I am in the minority, but I guess I prefer the factory "Ore-Ida" steak-cut style fry at red Robin, over the hand cut variety of Dick's because I find Red Robin's to be, crisper and less greasy. When I pick up a fry it should not bend.
  19. I like Red Robin and Red Mill, but I would also add The Six Arms "Captain Neon" burger as one of my favorites. Scooters is good, but I don't think it is much different than Kidd Valley. Maybe a good question is what do you look for in a good burger? I like a toasted sesame seed bun and a seasoned,hand-formed patty of at least a third of a pound. On it I like sautee'd mushrooms, thick sliced crisp bacon, fresh green lettuce, thin slices of red onion, sliced dill pickles, and either Ketchup & Mayo, 1000 Island Dressing, or "Hamburger" sauce.

  21. I resolve to try one new sushi restaraunt and one new pizzeria each month.
  22. add a few more for me: American Pie Grilled Cheese The Iron Skillet Cookbook
  23. What I got from friends: $50 Gift Card at Whole Foods, which I used for a dry-aged NY Cut steak, sashimi Maguro, and a 4-pack of Virgil’s Natural Vanilla Cream Soda. The Complete Peanuts (Volumes 1 and 2) by Fantagraphics Books. What I got for myself: X-Men: Legends and Need For Speed 2 for the Nintendo Gamecube Lunch at the Oceanaire Seafood Room (Grand Shellfish Platter and Chowder) Six pack of Coke from Holland (with real sugar!) Belvedere Vodka plus I saw two movies: House of Flying Daggers; The Life Aquatic with Steve Zisqou; both of which I really liked.
  24. What I guess I mean, is that Dutch Coke tasted more like fountain Coke than US bottled Coke.
