Jill Melton, former editor at Cooking Light, has been named editor of Relish, a newspaper-distributed food monthly that will launch in February from Publishing Group of America.  Melton spent 15 years at Cooking Light, published by Time Inc.'s Southern Progress, and left the publication in February 2004.

Relish will launch in February with 6 million copies distributed through newspapers every month.

Looking more and more interesting, no?

Sharing food with another human being is an intimate act that should not be indulged in lightly.

Well, no, not to me -- but then I'm not a fan of Cooking Light or of "healthy cooking" recipes/articles. But I understand why they'd want such an editor and slant for a mass audience in a country whose citizens keep getting fatter and fatter while they make fad diet books and tomes by Sandra Lee the best-selling "cookbooks."
