Gnocchi with a sausage ragu, mozzarella cubes, Pecorino Romano.

Crema Catalan, lemon peel, cinnamon stick, a few anise seeds infused the warm milk, then strained out.

Hamachi Tiradito - delicate slices of yellowtail with orange supremes in Ajo Verde sauce with wasabi mayo. Inspired by Japonesa, a Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant in Manila, Philippines. I was quite pleased with how this came out. The orange supremes are hard to see, but they are in between each piece of fish.

A hot lunch for a cold day.  Smoked turkey, chicken and sausage in an okra gumbo base that included some dressed crabs.   All the ingredients were freezer forage.  Served over a medium grain rice from Crowley LA.

I did a 7-11 shift at the hospital (volunteering) this morning and was starving when I came home.

Quick and easy - toasted cinnamon raisin bread with old/sharp cheddar. Hit the spot. Now I just have to figure out what happened to the 4 servings of jambalaya that I froze on New Years Day. My husband and I have both looked and cant find it but I KNOW it's in there. After some lunch, I will have another look!

Mapo tofu from a Sichuan restaurant, sesame scallion roll with a nod to the NYT. This had scallion, sesame oil and chili crisp as the filling, a little sesame oil in the dough.

Chocolate dessert, chocolate flakes, candied hazelnuts and raspberries.

This bowl of beige is the Oyster Pan Roast with Yuzu Kosho Cream and Spicy Cornmeal Biscuits from Sunlight & Breadcrumbs by Renee Erickson.

I tried my best to make it look appealing but it’s still a bowl of beige, however delicious.  That said, the combination of cream, yuzu kosho and briny oyster liquor is pretty delicious!

Here are the biscuits on their own:

I’ll never be a biscuit maven but these weren’t  bad and should provide me with a few smallish breakfast sandwiches.

Out to lunch a couple of days ago with my husband. A cup of seafood gumbo (with hardly any seafood), and a shrimp Caesar salad for me. What I enjoyed about the salad was how easy it was to eat. The romaine was chopped into bite sized pieces and I didn’t have to fight to make it ready to eat. Oh, and it tasted really good. He had crawfish enchiladas that came with sides of rice dressing and green beans. He ate every bite, although neither of us tried the bread.

At an all day meeting a few days ago I chose to eat at the restaurant where the meeting was held. The other attendants went elsewhere for lunch, which was probably smart. This grilled chicken Caesar salad was bountiful, but also, overpriced (in my opinion). After tax and gratuity, it was $35 and some change for a salad and a glass of iced tea. I was not ashamed to take the leftovers to go.
