Then the test.  After being introduced to gin and tonic, a superior drink, I was deemed ready for martinis.

I can't believe you were introduced to scotch BEFORE martinis. It seems to me that martinis should come before scotch. Scotch seems to be the drink of choice for people who have tried everything else under the sun and have finally found "the one".

And the wines!! I'm envious of your drinking education ;-) mine was learned the hard way.

My three favorites now are:

1.  Tanqueray martini with olives

2.  Scotch and water in equal measures

3.  Tanqueray and tonic with lemon (summertime only)

It took me until 30 to like the taste of scotch.

My 3 favorites are:

1. A really fresh, really hoppy PNW micro, or something Belgian, like a wit or a geuze.

2. Really expensive wine that I didn't have to pay for.

3. Anything Nightscotsman makes.

I'm 45 and still don't like the taste of scotch.

Minute Maid Frozen Orange Juice concentrate leaves the party after 80 years.

Lots of Jungle Juice and Punch recipes are now in danger.

Bing sings.

I'm sure this is inaproriate now but back in the day we made Purple J*sus. Every kind of booze and some mix and a couple of cans of frozen juice and some fruit, all mixed up in a kitchen sink and enjoyed byy all.

Ours was Jungle Juice in a large (clean, new) plastic garbage can, the booze was everclear and everyone some brought juice or fruit to add to it, community-minded LOL,  and it was ladled into red solo cups.  Somehow we never seemed to find the bottom of the can, that I remember.  Sometimes, there was an unsuspecting soul that wouldn't drink the juice, and decide eating the floating fruit was the safer option, big mistake, that got you drunker faster.

My version of Jungle Juice was similar, with everclear but we’d throw in a handle of vodka for a fancy touch and dump koolaid mix into the same plastic bin. Fill it up in the dorm shower then toss bags of ice into it. Fruit was for suckers.
