I was thinking the same....but along the lines of what I know as an "avocado picker" (click).

"Costco Is Once Again Selling Chicken Bakes At Their In-Store Food Courts And Fans Are So Pumped" What a coincidence...Costco now sells the Chicken Bakes in their freezer/refrigerated section. So the reason why the Combo Pizza & Combo slice disappeared from the Food Courts was to simplify and "expedite" their post-COVID19 menu. Yeah, right.

The article: "Riverside’s Newly Legal Home Restaurants Look to Revolutionize California’s Food Scene" While it sounds easy to start an at-home restaurant, there are many hoops to jump through before you get the permit. This reminds me so much of eG'er Bryan Z who had amazing pop-up dinners at his apartment/home. Some of the dinners have been documented here on Egullet. Any other longtime eG'ers remember him?

It's the first of the month so there are new e-cookbook deals (last month saw only one page of bargain-priced e-cookbooks, this month there are two pages...yippee ). However, a lot of the e-cookbooks being offered for a low price this month have been previously posted in this discussion so I won't post them again (Jacques Pepin, Dorie Greenspan, etc). Quite a number of them have a new "sticker" stating "Limited Time Deal" on them so fair warning... Edited to add... In case anyone would like to see the sale-priced cookbooks being currently offered on Amazon, here are How-To Instructions (I do not work for Amazon nor do I receive any remuneration from them. I just like a bargain-priced cookbook!): On the Amazon Home page, in the upper left corner, is a box with three horizontal lines in it. This is a sort of "Table of Contents". Click on that box. On the drop-down menu that appears, click on "Kindle E-Readers & Books". On the menu that appears next, click on "Kindle Books" (just under the words "Kindle Store" on this menu). Once you get to the Kindle Books home page, just under the top dark-colored banner, in the top of the white section, are some Kindle-related links. One of them is "Kindle Book Deals". Click on that link. On this new Kindle Book Deals page, on the left hand side (you may have to scroll down to see them) are categories of books, one of which is "Cookbooks, Food & Wine". Click on that link to see what e-cookbooks are currently on sale.

Tamales in the south are a little bit different. I recall seeing a Food Network show where they spoke with a southern US restaurant owner who made tamales. One big difference is that they wrapped the tamales in coffee filters instead of husks for steaming. I am a huge fan of tamales but would rather buy them than make them.

There is one Woolworth's left (a mere shadow of its former self). Appropriately, It's in an antique mall here in town. Their menu seems to have been simplified from its glory days.

Ditto on the XXXL snifter holding matchbooks. If you're looking for a match that always lights, stores like REI (for outdoorsy people) sell storm-proof matches (click) that always light.

A nice cast iron skillet (with oil) would crisp them up, as well. I recall after my mom passed we had a group of family and friends come over for breakfast. One friend had never had skillet-fried tots before (always oven-baked at his house ) and I was talking up how crusty and wonderful they get in the cast iron skillet when my asshat oldest brother came into the kitchen to "help" me and stirred the crap out of the tots, obliterating the crusty parts and mushing the soft interiors until you could no longer see individual tots. I was furious with him for doing that and literally threw him out of the kitchen. There are those who understand The Tot, and those who remain ignorant all their lives.

Not that you have to worry about it this late in the season, but it was also mentioned in the Comments section for the recipe, that young corn (maybe it was too early in the season) may not be the best cobs for this recipes, not having developed enough starch in the corn milk to thicken properly. Which is something good to know to file away for the future... Looking forward to your results!

Someone here on eGullet name-dropped it on me and I signed up. BookBub sends me a lot of suggestions that I would never buy (Vegan!? Do I look like a Vegan? ), but sometimes they send gold nuggets or their "duds" lead me to find gold nuggets on Amazon on my own.

In the Food52 video, she only used 4 corn cobs and I don't think she got 1 and a half cups of juice out of them. Maybe a cup, if I am being generous (which she then scorched while cooking it! ). So maybe I need to get a Vitamix...Enabler!

I stumbled across that Genius Corn Butter video on YouTube. While the end product did look very good, it seems like a helluva lot of effort for such a relatively small result. I did read, however, in the comments section for the recipe on the Food52 site, that someone made the recipe and used a Vitamix to blitz all of the corn (before straining it for the corn milk/juice) and they said there was no pulp. The Vitamix turned it all into corn milk/juice. The jaded side of me wonders if the person who wrote the comment was a Vitamix rep.
