Currently snacking on Blue Diamond almonds, Spicy Dill Pickle flavor. To quote Phoebe from the TV series "Friends": "This is what evil must taste like!" I didn't mean to buy them. They were right next to the Blue Diamond Almonds, Wasabi & Soy flavor, which also come in a green can. Now those I like. The Spicy Dill Pickle flavor are pretty bad. But I discovered that if I get past the initial dill part, the almonds are actually sweet and the dill flavor goes away. And they have absolutely no spiciness to them, the lying liars. I've learned my lesson...look at the label on the can in your hand before it goes into your shopping cart.

A surprising morning in the search for sale-priced cookbooks: Jacques Pépin's "More Fast Food My Way" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) This is the sequel to his "Fast Food My Way" cookbook and PBS TV series. The Amazon info page has two recipes from the cookbook printed out. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the list of recipes. Then scroll further down to see recipes. One caveat, again...the ingredient listings with the recipes are oddly written. They're written on a single line or paragraph, instead of the usual list. Named one of Fall's Best Cookbooks by Food & Wine, Hugh Acheson's "Sous Vide: Better Home Cooking: A Cookbook" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see recipe listings for seafood. "The Italian Vegetable Cookbook: 200 Favorite Recipes for Antipasti, Soups, Pasta, Main Dishes, and Desserts" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see recipe listings from the first chapter. Then scroll further down to see recipes. The Amazon info page has three dowwnloadable recipes from the cookbook. One caveat...the ingredient listings with the recipes are oddly written. They're written on a single line, or two, instead of the usual list. "The Wagamama Cookbook" Kindle Edition $0.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see recipe listings from the first chapter. There are also recipes for various stocks, broths and "sauces". I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

Two more I stumbled across this evening: I've been waiting a long time for this ecookbook to become sale-priced (it's very well reviewed): "Kevin Belton's New Orleans Celebrations" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes and scroll down to see some recipes. Restaurateur Marc Murphy (who also appears on Food TV as a 'Chopped' judge) "Season with Authority: Confident Home Cooking" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down a bit to see the recipes from the first chapter. Scroll further down to see some recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

I feel your pain. I'd love to have a 90-day supply of meds mailed to me, but our USPS mail delivery is horrendously bad. We don't even have a dedicated mail carrier for our area. Whichever carrier gets back too soon from delivering their own routes get assigned to deliver to our area. It's not unusual to see carriers wearing headlamps, well after sunset, delivering our mail.

From my morning BookBub email...this has been posted before but I am posting it again because it's Lidia and it's sale-priced: "Lidia's Commonsense Italian Cooking: 150 Delicious and Simple Recipes Anyone Can Master: A Cookbook" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes, then scroll down to see some recipes. I am also posting this Lidia ecookbook below even though it's slightly more than the usual "slightly more expensive". It's from her PBS television series: "Lidia's Italian-American Kitchen: A Cookbook" Kindle Edition $4.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll past the listed index of generic chapters to locate the recipes from the ecookbook listed by episodes of the PBS series. Then scroll further down to see some recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

"KFC Is Releasing A New Sauce Called ‘KFC Sauce’ And Revamping Its Other Sauces Like Ranch" Truth be told I haven't been to a KFC in a couple of years. Six KFC's here in town shut down all at once about 2 years ago (guess the franchisee/owner left the business). Fortunately many of them became Popeye's so I was a happy camper with the change, so to speak. And of course the new KFC sauce has a sweet note to it...what isn't made with added sugar these days? If anyone tries the new sauce, please report back on how it tastes.

That's exactly how my mom used to finish her fried eggs. It gave her the "over easy" without the turning the egg over part. I think she kept breaking the yolk on the flip part and water/steam-in-a-covered-pan did the trick she was looking for. You're not steam cooking the eggs...just finishing the cooking of the yolk and any "jiggly" white parts.

For all of you home canners out there regarding the lack of Ball jars and lids during the Pandemic: "All that time in the kitchen during this pandemic has led to a nationwide shortage of Mason jars" Though the CNN reporter got it wrong when trying to blame the Pandemic yeast shortage on the growing interest in Sourdough baking a few months back. Regular sourdough gets its yeast from the air, not from a package.

An update on the ice cream: "Eskimo Pie to become Edy's Pie: Rebranded ice cream bars expected to arrive in early 2021"

"McDonald's adds new bakery items for the first time in almost a decade" Please take one for the team and report back when you get the chance.

Two recalls: "These Chips at Aldi are Being Recalled" There's a link in that first paragraph that takes you to the FDA's web page about the recall. "Fruit recall: Watermelon, apples, other produce sold at Walmart stores in 9 states recalled for listeria risk" Again, there's a link in the 2nd paragraph which takes you to the FDA's web site regarding the recall.

"Season was also in my BookBub email this morning so I won't post it again. Here some other sale-priced (and slightly more expensive) cookbooks I found this morning: Helen Nugent's "Pie Style: Stunning Designs and Flavorful Fillings You Can Make at Home" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Measurements seem to be both Metric and Imperial. Two slightly more expensive finds... French Bistro cooking in "Buvette: The Pleasure of Good Food" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) "Rose Water and Orange Blossoms: Fresh & Classic Recipes from my Lebanese Kitchen" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes and scroll down to see some recipes. Measurements seem to be both Metric and Imperial. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

Both of these were BookBub finds from this past weekend: "Old-Fashioned Jams, Jellies, and Sweet Preserves: The Best Way to Grow, Preserve, and Bake with Small Fruit" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of fruits she tackles in this ecookbook. "The Magic of Mini Pies: Sweet and Savory Miniature Pies and Tarts" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

Yep. His idiocy seems to run the gamut, doesn't it?

Two from Michael Ruhlman that I stumbled across this afternoon...not sure how rudimentary they are. His "How to Braise" from the series has been previously posted in this discussion. You can click on his name on the Amazon Info page to see his other titles. I believe the "How to Braise" Kindle cookbook is still bargain-priced. Michael Ruhlman's "Ruhlman's How to Roast: Foolproof Techniques and Recipes for the Home Cook (Ruhlman's How to... Book 1)" Kindle Edition $2.99US Michael Ruhlman's "Ruhlman's How to Saute: Foolproof Techniques and Recipes for the Home Cook (Ruhlman's How to... Book 3)" Kindle Edition $2.99US I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

I've been thinking about that question, given the author's distaste for pasta machines. But who's to say you can't use his pasta recipes and go ahead and use your pasta machine to make the pasta? Embrace your inner pasta rebel and do whatever the heck you want. It's your kitchen.

It's a new month so new cookbook offerings, right? Uhm, not really. A lot of the cookbooks have been previously posted in this discussion. So, no, not a lot of new offerings this month. I did find a new-to-this-forum cookbook: 2020 James Beard Award Winner for Photography, "American Sfoglino: A Master Class in Handmade Pasta" Kindle Edition $2.99US The photography (samples of which you can see when you use the "Look Inside" feature) is very nice. Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes. At the very bottom of the preview is part of one recipe...enough to show that the measurements are Metric with Imperial measurements also included. Please read the one negative review on this cookbook's Amazon info page. Apparently the author is not a fan of pasta machines (hence the emphasis on the word "handmade" in the cookbook's title). I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

I concur with the recommendation of CamelCamelCamel. I thought the price history it shows was very useful. Sadly, it showed me that the Instant Pot I wanted to buy as a gift never went back down to the lower Black Friday pricing. But I chalk that up to my idiot brother not mentioning until AFTER Black Friday that he wanted an Instant Pot for Christmas. Grrrr.... Someone mentioned the 3 Qt. Instant Pots earlier/recently in this discussion...The link I previously posted didn't seem to show many 3 Qt. Instant Pots on sale. However, recent articles on upcoming Prime Day sales that I've been reading are starting to mention them more (meaning they may go on sale the closer we get to Prime Day). So don't give up hope!

"Walmart Is Selling a TUB of Oreo Mousse We're Already Digging Into" I can't believe that I am seriously contemplating hunting this down. Anyone else care to join in on the hunt?

"You Don't Have To Wait For Prime Day To Fill Your Cart With On-Sale Amazon Kitchen Appliances" There are links in the article to various kitchen items and cleaning items already discounted on Amazon ahead of Prime Day.

Yes, I noticed that Ms. Goldman was, uhm,...prolific in her book writing. Many of her Kindle cookbooks were also on sale in the Amazon US, too many to post at one time. Thanks for mentioning her.

A sort of baking theme this afternoon: "The Big Bottom Biscuit: Specialty Biscuits and Spreads from Sonoma's Big Bottom Market" Kindle Edition $2.99US From the web site BetterBaking.com, "The New Best of Betterbaking.com [Print Replica]" Kindle Edition $2.99US Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see some recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.

My mom would always save the potato water for making her gravy. She said it always added that extra "something" to the gravy.
