    4th of July

Santa Maria Tri-Tip is a thing around here and I am at a loss to understand why. I find tri-tip to be quite chewy and sometimes quite tough.I get tired just thinking of what it's like to chew that meat. Here it's either served with BBQ sauce or salsa. Neither sauce adds anything to it. That's why I much prefer a nice smoked brisket that's fall apart tender.
  4. "Pilgrim's Pride Corporation Recalls Chicken Breast Nugget Products due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination"

  13. Sad news... "7-Eleven cancels Free Slurpee Day because of coronavirus, but will still give away free frozen drinks in July" Of course, you can still get a free frozen drink but you have to go to their web site and/or download their app and they will send you a coupon for a free one. Sounds like a marketing gimmick, to me.

  15. Two to post... Currently snacking on Cheetos Cheddar Popcorn (click). While not the same cheesy flavor as Cheetos, I think it's quite cheesy and good. Yesterday I snacked on Stacy's Cheese Petites - Romano with Garlic and Pepper (click). I was fooled by the picture on the bag. In the salad dressing section of the grocery store they sell Parmesan cheese salad "toppers" for salads (Costco seels the huge bag of cheese toppers). The toppers are basically melted cheese. So I bought Stacy's thinking they were just like the cheese toppers. They're crackers. That being said, they taste exactly like the cheese toppers. Very tasty!
  16. "Pringles' newest flavor is a favorite fast food item" I've never found a faux bacon flavor to taste much like the real McCoy, so to speak. If you find this new flavor, please take on for the team and let us know how they taste.

    Costco

i am a little ticked off. I'd like to know the name of the child that has been put in charge of the Costco food courts. First, the Polish Dog was removed from the menu. Then they added that fake meat salad. The Pulled BBQ Pork sandwich with Cole Slaw on top was yanked (no pun intended). And now, you can only order either a cheese pizza or a pepperoni pizza. They completely removed the Combo pizza which had sausage and veggies on it. The dumbing down of the menu is ridiculous. What's next? Adding chocolate milk and animal crackers to the menu?
  23. "Hong Kong restaurant group's Covid-19 bible sweeps the world" It's interesting to see how this "COVID-19 Playbook" has made its way across the globe. It's the age-old truism, adapt or perish.

  25. As a teen, I was helping my mom by shredding a block of cheese in our Black & Decker "Cuisinart". The block of cheese had been in the freezer and still hadn't thawed well enough when I started shredding it. The shredding blade was skipping off the surface of the very firm cheese so I decided to push down a little harder. I ended up causing the spindle to crack and that was the end of our low-price "Cuisinart". Needless to say I felt quite bad. From then on, I was assigned to be the grater of cheeses using the 4-sided metal graters. We never did get a replacement for the Black & Decker.
