I saw an article on Walmart's early Black Friday specials. I think this 9-in-1 6 qt. IP is currently at a good price (click). Plus, it looks like it's in stock, as well.

The Rite Aid in question is a stone's throw from my residence, which is why other options weren't considered. But looking for another answer is what I will have to do. Regarding other lockers, I'd seen outdoor lockers at a 7-Eleven in San Diego while visiting family. That would have been ideal. There is a 7-Eleven that has lockers here but it's on the other side of town where Whole Foods is located. It could be an option since it doesn't involve having to go inside a store to retrieve packages. It's just a "slog" to get there. The fact that I can't order what I want to order from Amazon is what was ticking me off. And that Amazon is buckling to Rite Aid's list of verboten items is ridiculous and surprising.

- sigh - There is a Whole Paycheck over on the opposite side of town. Convenience will get thrown out the window if I send packages to that store but I guess it's doable. Thanks.

You're doing fine. I'd chalk up the missing flour to novice bakers in the Pandemic (the yeast shortage was their fault earlier this year). No worries. And your turkey selection sounds perfect, My brother in San Diego would do the inverse turkey parts (just a fully cooked turkey breast bought at Costco). At least your turkey will give you bones for stock. Buy just the breast and you're not able to make a good turkey stock whatsoever (which he and his wife wouldn't do anyway). You should look at local drug stores (Walgreens, etc.) for Halloween candy on sale. The main grocery stores get wiped out of their stock early on Nov. 1st. Ya snooze, ya lose. All the stores here have fully stocked their Christmas candy. Halloween's "body" isn't even cold and they've already moved on to Christmas. I don't blame them during this time of Pandemic for trying to make as much money as they can over the holidays.

Not sure if I complained about this yet... Due to COVID, my company closed our lobby and the receptionist is taking calls working from home...and has been since March. I used to order a lot of stuff from Amazon and had it sent to my workplace which was so convenient. The mail delivery and UPS delivery for my home is terrible which is why I sent Amazon stuff to my workplace. Once our lobby was shut down I knew Amazon had lockers and thought I could ship my Amazon stuff to a local locker. The big problem is that the Amazon lockers here in town are inside of local Rite Aid stores which means I can only pick up my Amazon order when the Rite Aid is open. The other MAJOR problem is that I used to order medical products (Tylenol, etc) from Amazon. Now when I order it from Amazon, I get an error message stating that Rite Aid won't let medical supplies (or anything else they sell) be shipped from Amazon to their lockers inside Rite Aid. WTF? Amazon is letting Rite Aid tell me what I can or cannot order from Amazon? Now normally, I would understand...Rite Aid doesn't want the competition from Amazon. HOWEVER, like Walmart, Rite Aid doesn't keep their shelves stocked. I would go in to Rite Aid looking for Tylenol only to find it sold out and only Rite Aid's generic pain reliever brand was being stocked. I am royally ticked off at this and my orders from Amazon have all but stopped because of this. I wonder if Amazon has even noticed how this situation is impacting their bottom line...

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )

Dowdy my Aunt Fanny! I love that dessert. Sure it's from Paula Deen who was always one step up the cooking ladder from a Sandra Lee recipe. I am drooling over your serving picture. And I was quite impressed with the holiday Chessmen. Didn't know they made them in a Christmas theme. My problem with the dessert was the bananas in the leftovers turning black overnight. Fruit Fresh took care of that problem. Thanks for posting this! -
Maybe they will have them in-store somewhere...

The biggest difference between regular cucumbers and English cucumbers, it that the green skin of regular cucumbers can be thicker and while edible, is usually bitter. Also, English cucumbers tend not to have seeds (large seeds anyway) and doesn't have the "goop" around the seeds like regular cucumbers.

A belated thank you to everyone who responded regarding my country ribs issue. A local grocery store had them on sale so I thought I would attempt cooking them again. I put a nice spice rub on them, placed them in a tin foil-lined pan with tin foil on top and baked them for 2 hours at 275°F Then I took them out of the oven and slathered them with BBQ Sauce. I put them back in, uncovered, for another hour. They were so tender I could have shredded them with just a blunt spoon. They were not dried out, they were not tough. They were just perfect. Plus, the BBQ sauce ended up caramelizing which made them even more delicious. Thank you eG! You rock!

Rule #1: When guests leave, they take some leftovers home with them. Period. Buy disposable containers to make it easier. Rule #2: My mom always made faux TV dinners with leftovers which we kids were thrilled with. Rule #3: Freeze what you don't think you can eat and eat it some other time. Rule: #4: Repurpose the food. I have a friend that would shred the turkey into the stuffing and stirred in the green beans, all served with hot leftover gravy on top...a sort of casserole that used up 4 food items at one time. Consider it a challenge to your food sensibilities to create new dishes from the leftovers.

I believe the reviewer was talking about copying and pasting from the e-cookbook into her recipe software (which I think she called it "Paprika"). Maybe she needs to join "Eat Your Books" so she doesn't have to do that.

One from my BookBub email and one other find: "The Farmer's Kitchen Handbook: More Than 200 Recipes for Making Cheese, Curing Meat, Preserving, Fermenting, and More (Handbook Series)" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Recipes are listed under the months of the year. Use the "Look Inside" feature and scroll down to see the January and February listings and corresponding recipes. A negative review pointed out that the "preserving/canning/sausage making" aspect of this book is given short shrift. I normally go down to my brother's home for Thanksgiving but I am thinking twice about it this year, given the Pandemic. I haven't broached the subject with him, yet, but time is ticking away so I have to tell him sooner rather than later. Extended family members, who just got back from driving around the US (during a Pandemic? Really? ) will be there, as well. I may wait until Christmas to make a trip down to his home. I've never missed a Thanksgiving spent with my family but this year is very different than any year before. I guess there's always a first time.

My older brother is new to Amazon, if you can believe it (plus he and his wife are Prime members). He told me he was upset because nothing "spoke" to him during the Prime Day sale. He said he didn't want any of the Amazon electronic devices which were featured, of course, and marked down. I told him he should be happy he didn't spend a penny. I told him to make use of his Wishlist and put things on it that he might like. Then, wait for Black Friday or the holiday sales beyond and check to see if any item he wanted was on sale. That made a lot of sense to him so he's biding his time. I will be interested to see what he ends up with (if anything) at Christmas.

Funny story regarding my most recent post above: I was originally going to post three cookbooks. But between the time I cut and paste all the information and then checked the links to make sure they worked properly, the price of the third cookbook had jumped up $11US. It shocked the heck outta me that the price change happened so quickly and that's why there are only two cookbooks in that post. Some finds from this afternoon: From the award-winning food writer and author of Mashed, Holly Herrick's "The French Cook: Sauces" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes. There's a recipe for Beef Stock on this cookbook's Amazon info page. "A Time to Celebrate: Let Us Keep the Feast" Kindle Edition $2.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes then scroll down to see some recipes. A repost and anther cookbook: "Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Sort of a retelling of how they got started but with recipes, too. Not just doughnuts but chicken and rubs and doughnut glazes, etc. Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the recipes listings. Though be warned the feature operated in an odd manner (pages not there...then they appear) when I looked inside. This is slightly more expensive, plus it has been previously posted. Am reposting it just because... Vivian Howard's "Deep Run Roots: Stories and Recipes from My Corner of the South" Kindle Edition $3.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Use the "Look Inside" feature to see the list of recipes and scroll down to see recipes. Did you look under "Lightning Deals" or "Prime Day Deals" up at the top in the black banner? I keep seeing the IP's floating in there. I got a silicone spatula set (4 spatulas) for something like $11. It included a skinny jar scraper spatula which is what I actually wanted...the other three spatulas in the set are just the icing on the proverbial cake.
