  1. Conversion kits are available for BBQs - try manufacturer - then try BBQ Galore in Burlington - I bought a NGas cooktop that I had to convert to propane, no problem - last resort try a gasfitter. p
  2. Totally agree - standard Li batteries in a "custom" case, problem is as said getting to them. Look for "industrial" batteries not "consumer" brands - no Duracell or Eveready - , AliExpress or other overseas markets are a good source. !!!CAUTION!!! Li batteries are extremely dangerous - risk of explosion and fire - handle with care! Ask Tesla Proper handling should not make this a problem. p
  3. Second time around with the "Roast Chicken 101" recipe and the LAST time. Turned out not as well as the first, but the smoke, grease splatter and resultant odors in kitchen and oven have taken this item off the menu permanently! Anyone else tried this and what was your experience? As an aside, the next day I did baguettes: Dough in Zojirushi BB-HAC10 (https://www.zojirushi.com/app/recipe/baguette) Then proofed and baked in APO using the "Baguette 101" recipe. Worked well, but reduced the browning stage to about 6 minutes as they were over-browning. p
  4. Do you have access to piped in gas (natural or propane?) Tanks are so very pernickety. p
  5. My backup Model T is still under a tarp. 😝 p

  8. A recent good review: https://www.zdnet.com/article/anova-culinary-precision-oven-review/ p
  9. Got my firmware update as well - 1.1.20 😀 As an aside, have not too many people purchased the APO or are they just quiet? The CSO topic has huge # of responses, the APO not so much.I realize the CSO at the time was a game changer but the APO has knocked it out of the park. p
  10. I'd say they were exactly the same. p
  11. @JoNorvelleWalker😀 Japanese rice washing bowl: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00FYT4VMK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Really works (water not rice is drained) and is really really cheap! p

    Food recalls

You mean the glass is supposed to be on the outside of the product and not on the inside? p
  14. I think you are over thinking this. Check out the Anova line of circulators which have a wide selection any of which have provided excellent results. Unless you are a real nitpicker any of them will do the job as you have outlined. p
  15. We in Canada often (constantly?) moan about the cost of items in Canada compared to the US. Never again! The APO in the UK will set you back CDN $1205.62 😨 😨 😨 That is the price of the oven, VAT (which are import duties) plus the DHL fees!!! Part of the problem is that the ovens are shipped from their EU warehouse and due to Brexit they are considered "imports" to the UK and thus subject to the duties. People in the UK purchasing one of these definitely need to keep a "stiff upper lip" p
  16. Well it's about a month since I got my replacement pan and it definitely is an improvement. Anyone else request and receive theirs? What are your impressions of the "new" pan? p

    Food recalls

A very local recall, but the premise speaks to Farmer's markets sales. https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/recall-issued-for-food-products-at-montreal-butcher-shop-1.5406171 p
  18. Should be "politically correct" and "environmentally friendly" Bamboo p
  19. First let me say I believe in everyone's right to make personal choices and follow them. I considered this could have been put in the "Food Recalls" topic. https://www.ctvnews.ca/climate-and-environment/food-site-epicurious-to-stop-publishing-recipes-with-beef-1.5403405 The next thing you know... p
  20. That's a hilarious couple, will have to watch some more!
  21. Are you sure the light goes out when you shut the door? p
