Pork adobo in the oven braising at 250F. Probably for dinner tomorrow as I prefer to chill the meat and gravy separately so I can remove the fat, shred the meat and pop it into the defatted jus. I was thinking of some nice fresh carrots and peas and some egg noodles though with all the talk of the Jezebel sauce maybe that with some of the pork on a rolls for lunch might be interesting.

Got them... ehhh….just regular oreos with one side of the cookie stamped with something from GOT.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I adore violets. I used to have a violet cup and saucer until the cup shattered. My bridal bouquet consisted or white violets, grandmother violets and blue violets along with lily-of-the-valley we picked from the side yard of my mom's house almost 37 years ago.

Roycroft in Buffffffalo, perhaps? There are several Stickley, Audi furniture production factories here in NJ but....stop and pick up that older model for sure.....
-
no longer a factory......sure we can figure out a safe place for your daughter...I can ask our neighbor/realtor whose daughter is in a similar situation oh.... and the pen thing? Johnnybird steals/ borrows/appropriates one from everywhere he visits...

If you like Stickley as much as I do (and history as well) next time you are on the east coast of the US you are welcome to our chair and a half that opens out into a twin bed so you can check out Craftsman Farms - http://stickleymuseum.org. It is about halfway between @MetsFan5 and me and there is a Wegman's just a bit down the road and a nice Viet-Thai restaurant, Lemongrass: http://www.lemongrassnj.com/ as well.

Years ago...1977-78...when I was working in restaurants to get money to go to grad school, I made these by the scores. Buttering those fluted molds was a nightmare.

Currently Ewe's Blue by Old Chatham Sheepherding company. I love it with a red Anjou pear and adore it in blue cheese dressing.

YEAH!!!!! Pears to go with that blue cheese. As a side note - @HungryChris have you ever tried Ewe's Blue from Old Chatham Sheepherding company? It's really tasty and I also use it to make a killer blue cheese dressing.

a quarter of a small quiche Lorraine I picked up at my local Shoprite. For 3.99 USD it gives me two breakfasts or a breakfast and two snacks and is better than I could make myself.

Black Forest ham and lacey swiss with peppadews and thinly sliced romaine on marbled rye yesterday. Not sure which will be lunch... just pulled from the oven a small mac and cheese with minced tomato and a small bowl of stuffed shells(4) topped with some of the leftover meat sauce.

@CatIsHungry, yes, Texas is a WHOLE 'nother country. Spent our first year of marriage there and had a blast exploring new foods... not just Texas ones(smoked brisket, Frito pie), but the engineers and their spouses in my husband's class were very eclectic - French, Indian, Midwest, New England. Was watching CBS Saturday morning and The Dish segment was from Minneapolis about Ann Kim. She came to the US from Korea, went to NYC then back to Minneapolis and has created this interesting fusion cuisine. She and her husband's latest restaurant looks really interesting … called Young Joni.

I SOOOOOO remember mom pop(grandfather) making this but wth Cornish game hens so each of us had a half. Though it also included some Catalina salad dressing. I'll have to check and see if I can find his recipe in my books/cards. Thanks for the reminder of my childhood🤗 4 hours of fieldwork yesterday cleaning and repairing bluebird houses. Got home and cooked some GF pasta for John then made a sauce for it with burst cherry tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, scallions, capers, shrimp, lemon juice and, after removing from the fire, a swish in of sun dried tomato pesto.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )
suzilightning replied to a topic in Pastry & Baking
Just made Julia Turshen's blackberry/raspberry cobbler as both fruits were on sale this week. Wow....only thing is I didn't have lemons for zest or peel so subbed in toast dope to toss the berries in. Even Johnnybird liked it!! -
They are in my local Shoprite circular as bring available beginning on 10 April for 2/$5.00. Anyone want a bag of them?
-
@CatIsHungry Have you read chef Edward Lee's Smoke and Pickles? Or Buttermilk Graffiti? I think you might enjoy them both as he writes as a Korean growing up in NYC and eating Korean food then moving to the south and discovering southern and soul food. The nearest H Mart for us is in Paramus...a little too far for this country girl.

Tried a Julia Turshen recipe from Small Victories last night. John was supposed to be home around 5 so timed it for then. Well how did THAT go? I ate alone. It was Flounder with Roasted Tomatoes and Black Olives. Served with dome saffron rice and green squash that was steamed then sautéed with shallot, garlic and olive oil. John said it's a keeper. I thawed a pound of bison and am going to do a simple, Italian-American red meat sauce to have over pasta and a green salad for dinner tonight.

SHOOT!!! My father-in-law sold his place down there so can't ask if I can visit. Though come to think of it I have a former high school classmate who still lives down there after retiring from the township a few years ago. I SOOOOOOO want that meatloaf you can NOT believe.

Interesting as I just did a 75th birthday party. The celebrant had definite ideas; her daughter had others and we navigated an interesting line. The mom said that, as she is older, doesn't like to have a lot of food at any one time so did some small bites....shots of soup with quarter sandwiches, snacky type things and mini desserts....it was a success with the celebrant and her friends.
-
Yes, yes it is...... Read my recipe in the proper forum. I love it more than the blue cheese dressing I make . It is tart from the tarragon vinegar and grassy from the herbs. Recently I like to pair it with fruit - apples, pears, grapes - in a lettuce salad.

Dinner? Breakfast? Snack - but NOT while eGulleting? ...... John was leaving for Poughkeepsie last night at 9....10....finally at 11 pm I said I'm exhausted, I have to go to bed so I said goodnight and went to bed. At 1214 am his car alarm started going off and brought me out of a full sleep. Finally fell back to sleep at about 0400 am. In the meantime I was a bit peckish so... toasted cheese sandwich of yellow American cheese with crispy turkey bacon and tomato on pumpernickel. Gooey cheese, crunchy bacon and tomato? Perfect.

For me, I prefer the minis and especially the dark as I find them the best balance of chocolate and peanut butter. John's family (Poughkeepsie, NY) always pronounced it Ree-sees; we grew up pronouncing it Reesus.
