    Dinner 2019

Jasmine rice, long cooked green beans and a recipe from Cajun Kosher cookbook - Lemon chicken. Works well the first day; using thin sliced chicken breast doesn't work well as a reheat. I think a thicker cut would reheat better. Just heading out to the kitchen to prep the veg for the Drunken Shrimp recipe for John's dinner later.
  2. If you're a good boy send me your snail mail and I'll send you a care package..... No, really.
  3. Got the dark chocolate ones.....goodness. I limit myself to two per day. Though I DID fall asleep last night with the package on John's pillow next to me 🙄...John is off climbing ice this weekend.
  4. I could lick the screen....that is some good looking bacon!!

    Dinner 2019

Made a recipe from Margaritaville cookbook for John... a shrimp dish. I don't care for shrimp and don't like the taste of alcohol so will make it for him. He said it was extremely good and should go into rotation....and it will IF he is around long enough. Did a bison meatloaf and served it with steamed broccoli and baked potato. The leftover potatoes went into eggy potatoes he has taken up north for his breakfast. Pieces of the meatloaf were tucked into some whole wheat sliders with some lettuce for the ride. I reheated themeatloaf and broccoli stems and ate them with some mashed sweet potatoes. Last night for me was a cobb salad with romaine and green leaf lettuce topped with some apple, black olives, turkey, blue cheese, garlic croutons, red onion and Persian cucumbers topped with a raspberry vinaigrette. Wasn't sure about that but it did work well. Still full from a late lunch so I'll wait until tomorrow to fix something....

    Lunch 2019

A small(3-4oz) piece of pollack fillet, soaked in a bit of milk, dried off then coated with panko bread crumbs that had been mixed with herbs. Baked in a 350F oven and eaten on a small toasted whole wheat bun with some tartar sauce and Mr. Ron's coleslaw.
  8. John left yesterday for a long weekend of ice climbing....if they can through the snow..... Bought turkey breast , Udi's white bread, Utz's pickle chips and Cape Cod potato chips - 40% less fat. Normally it would be "What can I cook while he is gone?" I'm older, Gandalf and it now is "What can I buy to eat - especially since it is tax time?' At Burrini's got half an apple pie(I already have the cheddar cheese). a small quiche Lorraine and a small piece of some blue cheese. At the Acme around the corner a small container of Mr. Ron's coleslaw, Kretchmer's tartar sauce and a true impulse buy - a small box of Stouffer's chipped beef.

  15. If I want to buy a cookbook my metric is if I want to copy out 1/3 or more of the recipes.... I buy the book. Then figure out what I can offer on the FREE Cookbook thread to make way for the new one.

    Lunch 2019

Sweet potatoes and russets in the oven finishing baking. I'm going to open up one of the russets and top it with Bebop Chicken Chili I made on Sunday. The others will go toward eggy potatoes for John's breakfast. I will scrape the sweets out and use a cup to try an interesting recipe for him for the weekend...a blueberry bar that includes the sweet potato and some chopped apple with the blueberries. Also have to test a recipe for one of the entities I test regularly for - a white bean soup.

    Dinner 2019

this crosses lunch, dinner and tomorrow's lunch. after doing chores and about a third of the taxes...… I ordered a personal cheese pie, 2 orders of sauce, meatballs and sausage. I have bucatini, salad and vinaigrette to add to the meatballs and sausage. Sometimes I need to be kind to myself..... a tough lesson to learn
  20. Just pulled a small loaf of honey goat cheese out of the fridge. I'm going to top some party pumpernickel with it and some sour cherry jam and the last of the yellow cherry tomato jam from down in south Jersey (Rea's Farm). ...and now the tiny crumbs fr0m the bottom of a bag of Utz's dill pickle potato chips with a spoon.
  21. The local McD's here I guessactually does bacon very well. I like mine crispy but not burnt and the on the one time I ordered it is was really good.
