  1. WOOF, WOOF!!! I'd eat it....especially with some tiny peas bathed in butter.
  2. a small plate with two preparations of oven baked mashed potatoes. I was reading Tiffani Thiessen's cookbook and she had a baked mashed potato dish with sour cream, butter and cream cheese. No cream cheese for me - none in the house - but used Lactaid sour cream and some butter. Added some onion jam to one dish; put some three cheese on the other and put into the oven for about 25 minutes. Came out a little browned and crunchy around the edges -and top for the cheesy one. The onion jam melted into the potatoes and I dolloped some Sun Gold tomato jam with ginger from Rea's Farm down in Cape May NJ on top of the cheesy one. I think I need a bit more...…. Quality control, don't you know.
  3. my brother-in-law just sent me a text... I have a great Christmas present for you guys and 30 C. Take a guess. I replied... No...No...Nooo….. Not another psycho cat. He replied ... Interesting....my great grandmother's cook book that she wrote out for my grandmother calls for thinly sliced round steak pounded with some flour then cooked in fat. Add a cup of water and a small can of tomato, salt and pepper. Cover and cook slowly for 1 1,2 - 2 hours.
  5. Vegetable broth going right now. It's supposed to not even get to 30 degrees F here tomorrow and I picked up a butternut squash. I'm going to zap it a bit in the microwave then peel and cut it into chunks. I found a recipe for butternut and carrot soup and one for butternut and red lentil. Not sure which one I feel like making. Sunday I'm going to take care of those chicken carcasses I have.
  6. NAH..... negotiate and if that doesn't work retaliate. I'm SURE you have or can get some embarrassing pictures that she would not want posted.😈
  7. We have smoked ham hocks here in NW NJ. A friend of mine - from Canada - found out about them this American Thanksgiving when she had to make collard greens for her in-laws. I had to tell her where to find them....but she reported back the collards came out great.
  8. It was in "How to Eat a Wolf". Resonated with me as that was how my grandfather believed and how we ate most of the time.

Ohhh... for us it was Portuguese sweet bread for those turkey sandwiches with the miracle whip and cranberry sauce later.... Last night I had some bison leftover so made a few sweet and sour meatballs with some jasmine rice. Some steamed broccoli. Also baked off some beans but not sure how I am going to use them. Aunt Edie would have taken brown bread and made a sandwich with them....I just don't get the whole carb on carb thing.
  10. @BryanQuocLe can't wait for your posts. Love pho....love bun bo Hue....love all kinds of Vietnamese food. Any other foods you like as your wife does not share your food heritage? oh, yeah....and snow is a pain but it makes it easier to cook heartier food now.
  11. we used the word harvest growing up. if we harvested it we ate it.....and that included the fruits and vegetables we foraged or grew... just the way we were raised.
  12. Tenderloins and a prayer up to the powers that be for her sacrifice to nurture us. Sorry folks but that was how I was brought up for animals and vegetables in my childhood.

Oh @Ann_T good for you for being the strong spouse and INSISTING it be checked out. I have a good friend the same thing happened to and he was in the hospital but it wasn't until his girlfriend(who works in the field) pitched a GIANT fit that it got diagnosed. It is so heart stopping when life happens.... I thawed some chicken breasts out. Now to pound them thin, saute and then slip them into a tomato basil sauce I thawed out, sprinkle with some shredded asiago and pop on top of some pasta with some sautéed spinach with garlic.
  15. Don't you have to break out the Christmas trees and decorate? I actually prefer does before they have their first fawn. See you in the spring...……….
