This just popped into my head ...maybe it should stay there but Since I like playing with wonton skins for savory applications that are often fried...how about forming a wonton cup filled with a cannolli type filling but like CKat said ginger or kafir lime or.... it could even be spiked with candied tropical fruit tracey

  5. Acini Pepe (pasta shape) which is usually used in soup but it was my "hot breakfast cereal" as a kid. Served with milk and butter great for dinner when no one else is home tracey

  8. In Laura Ingalls Wilders first book...Little House in the Big Woods she describes a meal/process that seems to be Hominy. They took dry corn and boiled it with a bag of Ash from a freshly burned Oak log until the corn was tendar then put the corn into a wash tub filled with cold water and rubbed till all the skins floated off. This was then dried to be eated boiled again with maple syrup...Parched Corn thats all I know...where is Rancho Gordo tracey

  11. Probably someone associated with fire departments they got tired of going to house fires caused when people leave home with something still in the oven. It actually sounds like a pretty good idea. Do you also dislike having the ability for the oven to come on via timer? One thing I wish they would add is a button to push to change the temperature control from Centigrade to Fahrenheit. That should be a very simple addition. ← What does one use the feature of having the oven come on by itself to cook? I mean are people putting a raw chicken in the oven at 8am, setting it to turn on at 4pm so they can eat dinner at 6pm? It always seemed like a neat idea and I think my new oven even has the feature but what the hell do you use it for? ahhhh and dont forget the Kosher switch tracey

  14. And in the States, Pie would very rarely contain spinache or meat... Quiche would be a French "pie" usually savory and Flan is a caramel custard often molded as an individual dessert An English style Meat Pie would be called that or Pot Pie...Shepards Pie should be understood here as a meat pie also...except when I see Shepards pie on a menu I rarely see and shepards or sheep in the mix tracey

  24. The first slice of my White Clam pie on Thursday was wonderful, they dont skimp on ingrediants or flavor in here. But it cooled off really fast and got kind of overpowering and nasty... so if you are sharing pies with a group eat that one first and fast oh yeah I have only been to Frank Pepe's ...havent tried the others yet Tracey
