  1. what time is dinner?
  2. But have you tasted the Bracciole? The pork one is delicious, my husband and just looked at each other and both went Mmmmmmmm And the price on spices was great 1.59oz jar of whole cloves was 1.99 thats over 4 bucks in Stop and Shop ooooh and the bacon, the bacon is wonderfull. Cooks up straight and crispy no water leaking out of it into the pan and the price is fair even though its sold rind on in the chunks, you can save the rind for soup anyway tracey
  3. I know a NY State BBQ restaurant owner that just has Home Depot order pallets for him, he mentioned that there is no shipping fee that way. tracey
  4. that sounds like my last attempt at dinner in NYC.... send me good Car-ma for Halloween night tracey
  5. MMmm oyster stew and chowder T
  6. If we can go back 24 hours it would be the lobster dinner I made at our timeshare on Cape Cod last night, otherwise it was the Hot Apple Pocket at Honey Dew Donuts in Fall River Ma on the way home this morning. The white clam pizza at Frank Pepes just was not better than that apple pocket, and damn it should have been tracey
  7. If you want it as "pulled Pork" reheat in a crock pot with some of your sauce and it should breakdown to yummy tenderrness tracey
  8. Check out the bagel threads for breakfasts...oh and the donut plant too also I am not big on refrigerating butter that will be used within a few days so keeping some butter in zip container and grabbing some fresh bread in the morning is another option for morning in room picnics streetfood, hotdogs and pizza for lunches Chinatown for dinner having just eaten my weight in lobster on the Cape I will shut up now...but we did bring english muffins and butter to the timeshare tracey
  9. Its time to head back to the Cape having snagged Mom's Timeshare again. This time for the whole week I am looking at bringing a stock pot for lobster a nice chef knife and a fillet knife to go with the fishing equipment. 1 big frypan, foil, plastic wrap and zip bags in case we actually catch anything and some snack foods. any new restaurant recomendations ...anyone? tracey
  10. Go to a regular deli, ask them to order you a Roman Cut or Flat Pastrami get a jar of basic dill pickles and pour the juice into a crockpot cut the pastrami in half and jam into crockpot...set on low for at least 4 hours then get some rye bread thats what I do anyway tracey
  11. Thats the Jersey price, wait till you get to NYC T
  12. We finally got down here tonight for the not so youngun's birthday dinner We went a little overboard but its like a job to be able to report back and all Started with the Hummus with hot just barely glistening pita wedges ( I love how some places can serve them hot and soft) My husband immediatly said make your hummus like this...meaning super garlicky Next up was the grilled Octopus, charred and so tender without being mushy served tossed with diced red and yellow peppers, red onion and drizzled with olive oil, lemon wedges on the side House made (I believe) Sausage was the 3rd app - 4 quennell shaped chunky herby sausage torpedos... also yummy Hubby got the standard Mousaka with a good layer of cinnamon scented meat at the bottom and the child had the vegetarian version with stewed lentils replacing the meat I ordered the Bifteki Sparti which was at least a half pound of ground spiced lamb mixed with cheese and tomatoes chargrilled a bit rare. Served with potato wedges...a tad bit overpowering especially in the portion size...good but I am not even sure I can face the leftovers for lunch tomorrow The owners were on site and very personable...one brother asking how my hubby scored 2 good looking women for dinner companions. Service was very good each app was presented individually and as we finished they brought the next...so if you arent sharing them you may need to say so. tracey
  13. We couldnt get into the parking lot..... tracey
  14. just to throw in another way to cool stuff fast the day before cooking freeze a couple of clean soda bottle filled almost to the top with water. Its great for cooling stocks and soups just drop them in the pot and put the pot in a sink 1/2 full of cold water tracey
  15. here is the rest of the buffet first set of pans is the Juniper pork which being the farthest from the fire was more of a slicing texture which was fine, and the cheese spatzle with Swiss and Brie sauce with bacon and fried leeks the second set has the chicken and southern style pulled pork dressed with a little vinager sauce and of great importance the beverage table...those little party kegs certainly cut down on the trash generated at the party T

  17. I really couldnt decide weather to leave this shot for last just to torture everyone but here it is the reason for the day tracey
  18. We eventually got the dinner buffet set up starting at one end of the table... we have Cole slaw and the bread basket with mini Potato Rolls, Whole wheat rolls and a few more pretzles The yellow squeeze bottle has a North Carolina style vinager sauce and the red one is regular BBQ sauce and theres a jar of sweet mustard too a nice pot of turkey chilli with cheddar garnish brought by a guest t
  19. Since you can never have to much Beer or Cheese at a party, and I really do have a theme going here, I also made a cold cheese spread flavored with Cherry Wheat beer, paprika and carraway called Obatzda T
  20. The first couple to arrive came bearing gifts of a borrowed pop up canopy and a bubbling cauldron of Beer Cheese Dip this is something we had alot of on our ride out to Tennessee and of course you need something to dunk in it...Super Pretzle to the rescue. I picked up a 36 pack of the heat and eat soft pretzles and since I had sesame, poppy and carraway seeds on hand we had some fun with them T
  21. Peter I meant to grind the salt, pepper and juniper in my spice grinder but it was actually in the trunk of my car, (with the extra folding chairs and umbrellas). Not a problem except that to create more parking we dropped my car at our mechanics parking lot in the next town over So I just squished and chopped the Juniper with the salt and rubbed it into the meat with the pepper. It worked, the floral flavor came through very nicely. This nice pan of bacon bits reminded me of a moment the night before Varmints Pig Pickin' so I couldnt resist The bacon was destined to be a topping for Spatzle with a swiss cheese sauce and fried leeks T
  22. So today is the day of my riding club's Big BBQ. Last night as I was spatchcocking some chickens and rubbing some butts what else would I think but "grab the camera" Here are the 3 half shoulders, 1 with skin 2 unfortunatley skinless. 2 Got a nice Southern Style paprika based rub (along with the 3 chickens) and 1 got what I am hoping was a Euro flair with salt pepper and juniper 7am and I see smoke tracey n karl
  23. We are heading up with the motorcycle club Sunday...it pretty tasty and if if you have tme the antiquing in town is very good tracey
  24. Your customer might be looking for a product with no alcohol for religious reasons.... someone had that issue in cake decorating recently tracey
