#165 Delicatessen?

This is getting to be too much!. Do we watch the exact same movies? You are correct again. I'll have to think of real obscure films just for you now  .

I had *just* watched Oldboy in the last few days. I'm not sure if the dumplings made me hungry or nauseous. Brazil made a lasting impression on me especially the restaurant scene you used as a clue (and those hats!!). Also, I tend to remember French films that feature cannabilism.

Here's one- "Kentucky Chicken!" as whined by a young boy.

New Puzzle: BBQ. Mainly ribs featured more than once in this movie. The main character seemed to savor them very much from a certain BBQ shack.

Ending the week with some hits and misses:

Please don't assign numbers to your new movie foods...if a movie is solved before it gets put into a recap, it's not given a number since it's out of play.

Also, we're getting some repeat movies. Try not to use "Pretty Woman", "The Godfather", "Cool Hand Luke", "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", "Fargo", "Moonstruck", "Repo Man", "Mrs. Doubtfire", "Fried Green Tomatoes" and "Dirty Dancing" as they've all been used twice.

CONGRATULATIONS TO:

-JanMcBaker for solving #161 (Trays of coffee and donuts served in a bunker by our heroine (only lady in there) while waiting for an invasion...) as the film "War of the Worlds".

-GordonCooks for correctly guessing that "Spaghetti pasta cooking over high flame and eventually burns a woman's lingerie. Quote: "Oh dear, I'm already having hot flashes."

Gourmet dinner delivery ordered because of the spaghetti disaster.

False dentures fished out of a wine glass. "Quote: Carpe dentum. Seize the teeth." was the film "Mrs Doubtfire".

-petite tête de chou has solved #165 (Grains are currency. Corn is very highly valued) is the film "Delicatessan".

************

WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION:

-FoodMan has guessed that #123 ("you know what a putenesca is? it means naughty girl's pasta"...) is the film "Mostly Martha".

We know that #97 is not "Little Miss Sunshine" nor is it "Elf"

#123 is not "Lemony Snicket Series of Unfortunate Events" nor is it "The Goodbye Girl"

#153 is not "Legal Eagles"

************

STILL UNSOLVED AND TAUNTING US UNMERCIFULLY:

97. Ahi Tuna, a glass of water

CLUE: toothpaste

CLUE: Christmas cookies, herbal tea

CLUE: a big stack of pancakes topped with ice cream, whipped cream, M&Ms, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup

CLUE: The Ahi tuna was warmed in a microwave

123. "you know what a putenesca is? it means naughty girl's pasta."

CLUE: said while the character's cooking, to a little girl, who hasnt eaten yet, and is kinda lonely. it might be "bad girl pasta" that he says.

148. In a marketplace, buying pears, Brioche, grapes, fresh cheeses, wine, crusty loaves of bread, and a fresh pork hock

153. cold hot dogs, mustard, potato chips, beer, milk

154. REVISED CLUE: A floor picnic of roast chicken, rudely interrupted by monetary concerns and time constraints.

CLUE: Every meal in the movie was disrupted by SOMETHING, but no other by money.

156. laughing, guffaw....."CHICLETS!!!!!!!!!!!"

CLUE: there is a concession stand with a big stack of cookies displayed on a long pole and the guy selling the cookies does not like loud music, only "Sha Na Na"

CLUE: There is an amazing animation segment, waiting in lines and lots of history.

CLUE: It takes place in San Francisco

158. "I love their eggrolls" " Eat your eggs" and four perfect T-bone steaks

163. Dumplings play a big and important role. They are a key to solve a mystery for a man's incarceration.

164. Duck l 'orange is served with a picture of the dish, but no actual duck 'pieces' visible.

166. A couple enter a restaurant, and the lady goes off to the ladies' room to neaten her hairdo. She returns and is majorly P.O.ed that her gauche escort has not only ordered for himself, but is too busy gobbling oysters to rise and hold her chair.

167. "Kentucky Chicken!" as whined by a young boy.

168. BBQ. Mainly ribs featured more than once in this movie. The main character seemed to savor them very much from a certain BBQ shack.

Ok, I'm taking a shot at 167

Is it The Way Home?

And your shot hit it's target! The spoiled boy-child whines and whines for "Kentucky chicken!" to his rural Grandmother. She doesn't understand what he's saying except 'chicken.' So after she travels miles to the market and spends her few coins the boy gets a nice, fat, *boiled* chicken. Yet another fine Korean film.

Okay, this is not exactly an "arm's length" solving of oneidaone's #156 movie.

I was at oneidaone's for an Easter Eve dinner gathering (lovely and delicious, of course!) and as usual they had some sort of music video playing in the living room. Whilst in the kitchen I heard the word "chiclet" come from the TV and the light bulb went on. The movie which I would never have guessed under any other circumstance is The Grateful Dead movie. Now that you know it, those clues make sense, don't they?

 BRAVO!!!!!!!!!! Funny how you heard the "Chiclet" and then guessed!

It refers to what the guy is popping in his mouth which looks very chiclet like

but is most certainly not. Thanks too, it was a great evening! You can't beat

the good ole Grateful Dead for background music! A hui hou
