Toasted H&H bagel with butter and blueberry preserves, plus a big ol' cup of coffee from DT-UT. And, of course, the NY Times! I love Sundays!

breakfast burritos (I had to use up the last of the flat bread I made Friday morning), lovely fried egg whites with leftover salsa and lots of chopped red leaf lettuce. mine had hot sauce, kiddle's had fresh chopped tomatoes. Second course, Ibrik coffee, lots of cardamom and sugar!!!! Kiddle also ate a few strings of Syrian string cheese... smelled so good! That was at 10am, we're still too full to eat another meal!

Brunch on Sunday was:

Coffee (with beans from JJ Bean on Granville Island)

Fancy Bacon (from Tenderloin Meats on GI)*

Fancy Sausage (from Oyama on GI)*

Savoury Ham, Mushroom and Cheese Clafouti (made by me based on a recipe from Fine Cooking)

Roasted potatoes and yams (made by another friend)

Toast (made with bread from Ecco Il Pane)

Sparkling wine and OJ

A delightful meal.... one that filled all of us up till late dinner time!

Sorry, no pics.

P.S. Neither the bacon nor the sausage are actually called "fancy" in real life, I just don't know what they actually were as someone else picked them up. Dern tasty though

I very rarely have a breakfast like this.. but today I was craving eggs!

scrambled eggs with cheese and lots of butter

Sourdough bread with what my butcher calls 'salmon bacon'.. lightly smoked bacon that is very soft and creamy sweet.

This weekend I made scrambled eggs with garlic, ginger, mushrooms and cream cheese. Served with croissant and fresh squeezed orange juice.

I've done eggs with cream cheese and mushrooms, but never garlic and ginger! That sounds really interesting...I will have that for breakfast sometime this week. Do you add the minced aromatics to the egg mixture, or to the oil in the pan before pouring in the eggs?

Whole wheat apple-cinnamon pancakes. Which happens to be the same thing I had for dinner two nights ago. What can I say, sometimes cravings don't go away with just one serving.

I had beignets with ginger and cardamom scented honey as a dipping sauce. Whipped Ibarra chocolate to drink and dunk along side. Shouldn't need anything more for the rest of the day

Yesterday: An entire head of ordinary cabbage, sauteed in olive oil until translucent and sweet.

Today: An entire head of ordinary cauliflower, fried until the whole neighborhood smelled like my grandma's kitchen after an afternoon of Lebanese cauliflower fritters.

I rarely eat an eggless breakfast but these days I have been craving cruciferous vegetables at the crack of dawn.

Tomorrow: broccoli. Hurray.

I use garlic and ginger paste (but I am sure thin slices will be fine too), which I add to the pan after I sautee the mushrooms.
