WE have a 14 cup cuisinart food processor.  the work bowl has broken again.  I've been unimpressed with it for the 12 years we've had it, it's gone through a bunch of plastic pieces, and has generally not been as good as the one my mom used to have.  So, I think instead of buying yet another work bowl, I think I'd like to get something else.   The size is right, both the capacity and counter foot print. We do normal food processor stuff, and a moderate amount of shredding and grating.  We have a good blender for blender stuff, this is just for slicing and grating and general mushing together.  What do people like that doesn't require an expensive plastic piece on a regular basis?

A mandoline?

Though arguably a mandoline fails in the "mushing together" category.  But your blender should cover that.

It might help to tell us your current food processor: make, model, size? I've liked my Cuisinart DLC-8 and never had a lick of trouble with it, once I made the necessary modifications to be able to take the top apart for cleaning. However, I don't use it every day (or even every week) and I know a lot of people have had trouble with Cuisinarts. I have a Hamilton Beach 4-cup cheapie purchased for travel and currently put away since the trailer is gone. It's okay for "camping".

This topic has quite a bit of discussion about food processor models, as recently as 2022, but there may be more current opinions out there.

I have the Breville Sous Chef Pro 16 and like it and lot.  I recently bought 2 of the dicing disc and they're great too.

@ElsieD, some while ago there was a discussion about 2 Breville food processors and yours did not use the accessory that the other one did. Do you remember the discussion? And which 2 food processors were discussed?

I have just given up in frustration being unable to close the lid on my current ill-fitting workbowl for the Cusinart Custom  7.

Grrrr.

So I chopped all my veggies in the Vidalia Chop Wizard Pro Max. But it was a pain because I had to steam the carrots in the Anova Oven so they would be soft enough to chop with the Vidalia.

Grrr.

It had to do with the dicing kits for the Breville FP.  This is the topic:  I'll try to find what the problem was tomorrow as I can't do it right now.

I re-read the thread and I th8nk it had to do with the difference between the Sous Chef 16 and the Sous Chef 16 Pro.  Sorry I can't be more help.  I think one needed the compatability kit the other did not.  Maybe @lindag could chime in?
