For some reason - I have a real problem with raw shrimp or lobster.

I looooooove raw shrimp and lobster. Especially if it's still twitching. That's the essence of shrimp/lobster right there.

My one weakness is shiokara. Every time I've had it, the squid has been chewy as hell so I have a tough time getting it down. The liquids are not particularly appetizing either.

At a Kaiseki meal in Kyoto one of the courses was covered in a bowl,

you took off the lid and it was nothing but a fish head (I didn't

recognize the variety, but I think it was small Yellowtail) - the idea was to eat the cheeks.

Delicious - but I thought the people I was with were going to die.

Except one guy - who ate the eyeballs.

I couldn't help but think of this song.

Edit: Very similar to this Sea Bream dish - but without the garnishes.

I have eaten many a cheek from larger fish, Monkfish, Red Snapper and usually

dig them out when I'm served a whole fish - and I know of fish head curries

and stews - but this was the first time I had ever been served a lone, boiled,

more or less unadorned fish head as a main item.
