Ingredients that are only ever prepared one way

A discussion on ortolans had me thinking, I've only ever seen one recipe for ortolan, the one where they drown them in brandy and then roast them and eat them under a hanker chief.

What other ingredients are there where, 90+% of the time, they're only eaten in one type of preparation? And for those, do actual variation recipes exist?

I would love to see alternative recipes for ortolan.

PS: I am a guy.

Is there any other use for arborio rice other than risotto?

It makes a hell of a rice pudding.

I cook it until very creamy then into a blender (or my Thermomix, in which the rice or risotto has been cooked) to make a savory or sweet rice "cream" that can be used as a sauce, either savory or sweet, as a base for a cream soup or as a substitute for cream gravy - especially good over pork chops.

"There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty. The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!" Terry Pratchett
